Hello, my name is Janet. I'm starting to worry about this Harold Camping guy and his prediction of the Rapture and stuff in May.

I am married with three kids (ages 6, 8 and 10) and I have one child on the way and it will be due sometime in June. I'm starting to feel scared and paranoid over this. My family aren't really religious people, but we DO believe in God and Jesus.

I know so many people are saying, "He is a nut and we will never know the true date of the Rapture/Apocalypse/End of Days. The Bible says so" and I know he was wrong once, but I still feel very worried about it. I looked at a post about him on this site and someone said that he WAS right and that we should prepare. That only added to my growing nervousness and fear. And all that mathematics he wrote about the date seems legit, even though I know that it can't be.

I'm worried that my unborn child might never see the light of day or my kids will never grow up if his prediction is true.

Please, can anyone prove to me that he is totally wrong and that May 21 and October 21 will be normal regular days?

And no, I do not believe in this 2012 thing. December 21, 2012 will be a regular day in my opinion.

Please calm my fears and assure me that he is 100% completely wrong. I'm so scared for my kids and baby.

Actually there has been a long discussion thread about him. He has cherry picked the dates which have no meaning in Christian thought. He used numerology to do it. His followers around where I live are not quitting their jobs. In short they are not fully on board with him. Also, no one really knows the time or day when the Rapture will happen. If they do…. usually the information isn't from God.

Don't worry. People like him make cherry-pick predictions (biblical numerology).
Since Jesus died, they predict the apocalypse and of course, they are never right. You should read the other forum threads about Harold and you'll see why he is totally wrong.

I'll help you out as far as Camping goes as Emmylou said Camping is an idiot who has predicted this twice before in 94 and 96 and of course those days came and went. Camping assumses that the Crucifixtion was April 1st 33 AD of course he has no proof of that. He also did not take the Hebrew Calendae in to account when he made this prediction. I've done some researching on Bible Chronology on Google and Camping is very far off in his assumptions. Also it should be noted that anyone who truly believes in Christ should know that Camping denies the Crucifixtion of Christ as Christ's payment for our future sins.

There is no Rapture or at least not the kind of Rapture that Camping is talking about. Camping's prediction is there will be a Rapture on May 21st of True Believers or basically people who believe this date is the only date that Christ can come back while the rest of us suffer the horrible 5 months of Tribulation. So essentially he's predicting a secret rapture which is a modern doctrine coming from the 1800's by John Nelson Darby and Cyrus Scofield and has become a very popular doctrine.

Camping can't be 100 percent sure that this is going to happen because he has contracts signed beyond May 21st and likely October 21st if he was 100 percent that Christ will return on May 21st he wouldn't be planning to do a show on May 22nd and he wouldn't be building more stations.

Oh really? I must have missed the part where it says "Multiply 5 by 10 by 17, take the square, add 51 plus the number you first thought of and add this number to a date when most biblical scholars think Christ wasn't crucified and there you have it."

Please tell me what it is that compels you and people like you to stick your unwelcome nose into a thread where a person is seeking reassurance and try your best to make them more anxious. What sort of satisfaction do you get? Do you have a sadistic streak or don't you care as long as you can proclaim your crackpot beliefs to one and all? And I thought religion was about compassion for your fellow human beings.
Please answer this because I would really like to know.

Pay no attention to that Mark1Tex person. He has obviously swallowed Camping's nonsense. Camping has predicted five previous dates and has a 100% failure record. Even though he claims to base his predictions on the Bible, he actually contradicts the Bible. The Bible clearly says that Jesus said no one will know the date, not even him or the angels, but only God. So Camping is in essence calling Jesus a liar. I think God might find that offensive and Harold is not likely to be raptured if it ever does happen (the rapture isn't in the Bible anyway).
Anyway, it's now 10 minutes past the time it was supposed to start in the Christmas Islands. Another no-show.

Actually the bible gives a complete different date: 15 October 2073.
If I were you then I would check the bible again, Mr Camping made somewhere an calculation error it seems.

Janet-don't worry about this idiot and total nut Harold.I'm old enaugh to remember all those previous predictions about world ends and after nothing happened-these screwballs just clamed up and after a while they came up with another predictions.-I believe that ONE day there will be the end ,but NOONE exept God knows this.It could be next hour or 10 millions years from now.These pitifull fools just try to be sooo knowledgeable and smart-unfortunately there are a few people who even believe them.—-I can assure you-nothing is going happen-just enjoy your life,family and friends do not listen to mental cases like this guy.

Even if "methodology" of Camping calculions is true* he is wrong because he uses wrong dates for time of biblical events: for example Jesus very probably was not crucified in 33 AD. Jesus had 33 years but they dont born in year 1 AD but 2-3 years before so He was crucified around 29 AD.

*In fact, is not true. This is form of numerology

That's also where the May 21st date comes from as Camping and his followers believe that it was the date given at the Foundation of the World.
