Car commercial with aliens and pyramids. The 2012 stuff terrifies me and it seems like everyone is cashing in.
I haven't seen it, but you shouldn't worry about people cashing in. It doesn't affirm that bad things are really happening, it affirms that advertisers are money whores.
Hi FeelingLost,
Yes, everyone is cashing in on it. That shouldn't scare you. That just helps to show that whole thing is about money and they're all jumping on for the ride.
Superbowl commercials have alot of things that are meant to be funny or strange in their own way. But they are mostly funny.
Everything is proceeding as I have forseen. Wait… when did that happen?
I am not sure exactly which commercial you refer to. From my recollection and some brief research, I believe you are referring to either A. The Cowboys vs. Aliens film trailer, or B. Super 8. The latter of which is a J.J. Abrams flick, who also directed Cloverfield (the movie with the Godzilla-like creature destroying New York, filmed entirely in handycam). The former, Cowboys vs Aliens…well…if that type of thing has you worried I don't know what I could say that would help.
Hollywood cashing in on alien invasion films is nothing new. Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Independence Day, even the more comically-geared movies like Mars Attacks have been popular in the box office for decades. I think that humans have an obsession with seeing the world as we know it invaded by outer space creatures and destroyed by giant mega Godzilla-like lizards. The numbers don't lie, most of these films do extraordinarily well financially.
However, I don't see anything like this to be a cause for concern. Are directors trying to cash in as 2012 approaches? Most likely. Either way, it's nothing new and all of these "disaster" films are quickly cast aside by real life scientists. Aliens, vampires, 2012, sex…hollywood will crap out WHATEVER it takes to make the big bucks. I mean,
Cowboys and Aliens…come on! :)
I believe this is the commercial feelinglost is referring to
