I'm only 15…turning 16 soon, but ever since the whole birds and fish suddenly dying and the massive winter storm that's happened so far in 2011, so many people at my school have been saying it's because the end of the world is near. Listening to them just makes me a little paranoid. I keep telling myself not to believe it, but sometimes it's really hard. Everytime I think about what I'm going to be in 10 years, sometimes I feel "am I even going to still be here?" I always visit this site, to try and keep reminding myself that nothing will happen, but sometimes my fear gets the best of me. I'm just feeling really confused and scared right now
Hi Heather,
I'm sorry to hear that this is scaring you, but I'm glad you found us. These things have always happened. I remember storms like this in the 60's, 70's, and 90's. This is just the first one you've experienced.
The wildlife deaths aren't unusual at all. The USGS keeps information on reported wildlife deaths in North America. The average number of incidents for the past 25 years has averaged 160+ per year. Each incident ranges from a few animals up to over a million. The media is just hyping everything now because fear sells.
Don't be afraid. None of the 2012 claims are true. Scientists expect 2012 to be just another ordinary year. You should read the pages here (listed on the left) that cover the things that have you worried, and ask questions whenever you like.
Don't worry about it Heather. Kids at my school will say the same thing but it doesn't bother me anymore. As Alene said, the birds and fish deaths are normal.
Everything is proceeding as I have forseen. Wait… when did that happen?
It's in your best interest, Heather, to listen to everyone here (except for the fools who scream doomsday without taking a second glance at the evidence at hand).
Personally, when I had first heard about the mass deaths of birds and fish, I was a little bit intrigued, but after looking further into it, I was actually became bored due to the outcome of my research. It would be terrible, of course, to find out that it was a 'sign' of some sort, but to find out that it's happened before, in the past, that just makes it less intriguing.
Trust me when I say that you have absolutely nothing to worry about, except for living your life and taking care of yourself and living to be an old, wrinkly lady with a walker.
Wie Sie säen, so sollst du ernten.
Heather i post in here when ever i got the chance, mostly concentrating, when i can, on people around my age as i can best relate to them.
Everyone of us gets anxious, some more than others. Sadly, you are probably one of the ones with a higher anxiety level. I too have this, in time, it will pass, i assure you. Go out, do some sports, gets some new toxins released in your brain, it helps. You are at an age where your hormones are going insane, this type of thing is completely to be expected. Now i will ask you this, and just think of this question. If you found a lump under your skin, would you go and ask a school friend to diagnose this for you? would you hell :D you would go straight to the dr's and get checked out, you would use an expert. Here, the experts are telling you what has happened

That is a nice one! :-)
But you don't actually have to be an expert to see through the hoax.
All it requires is a simple scientific calculator and a tiny bit of physics knowledge.
I think at the age of 15 you probably had already all the basic physics in school to debunk this easily.
