Hi Erik, I'll try to answer some of your questions
1) The sun undergoes several different cycles; one is the sunspot cycle (11 years), which is the most commonly known cycle of the sun. Then there's a magnetic cycle (22 years), but the suns magnetic field is much more complex then the earths for example and frequently undergoes changes. Could this cause a solar flare? Yes. Could this cause Geryls imagination of a killer flare? Not in a million years. If you look at Spaceweather.com, then you'll see that solar flares happen all the time (and they are totally harmless to us).
2) A solar storm like the Carrington event could be more dangerous today, but most likelly quite the opposite. Why? Because unlike in the the late 1800, now we are aware of them and take proper mitigations when building and renewing powerlines. A modern Carrington event could cause some disturbances, but not in any way cause an end of the world.
3) I don't know all that much about this, so it's better if some of the more knowledgable members adress that one=)
4) Given Geryls grand delusional self-image he might have discovered the Pyramids (in his world). To my knowledge he didn't find anything that haven't been found before, and nothing that supports his extremelly vivid imagination.
5) Yeah, lets trust one maniac without any form of science degree instead of several thousand scientists who have devoted their lives to scientific studies. No, Geryl isn't right. Heck knows if he even thinks so himself.
6) You might have noticed the sidebar to the left of the forum? Have a look there, and I'll guarantee that you'll find all the answers you need=) Otherwise, feel free to ask again.
You might also want to check the Geryl Page, to give you some perspective of just how incredibly wrong this nutcase is=)
