Drought in Asia, Middle East Unrest links to Harold Camping and possibly 2012.

I read on some website last night, I can't remember the name but they're linking the whole middle east unrest to Harold Camping who says the world ends this year and some are saying it's part the 2012 end of the world thing.

They said that it may cause a civil war. it's causing gas prices to go up more. food and clothing prices are going up due to the drought in Asia. Some man even said it's only a matter of time before every country crashes and burns and we should be very worried.

I'm not exactly sure what to think about this other than it's complete bs. But my cousin who is only 11 is scared because she saw this on the news and now she's starting to believe the whole end of the world thing. I can't calm her down because I guess she doesn't believe me so I was wondering if anybody here could help me?

There has always been unrest in the middle east at some point or another. As for any of this having to do with Harold Camping. It doesn't Harold Camping's prophecy is already proven false by thee Bible as there is no mention of May 21st in the Bible and Camping has to terribly distort the Bible to get his claims to work.

The Middle East and unrest are a package deal, and they have been for most of human history. Harold Camping is a repeatedly failed doomsayer, as a simple search of his name on this forum can show you.

Maybe, just maybe… But they are cherry-picking events that have nothing to do with doomsday. Droughts, unrests etc… are not new. They are indeed bad, but very normal. Sometimes Africa's countries need an unrest to "wake up" and get a better head of government.
Droughts are normal. What's wrong? Droughts happen in Africa, USA (I'm not sure about this one), Brazil, Australia, Asia… everywhere. I'm not saying that's good, but just it's not related to 2012, nor with Camping.

You're right, it is complete BS. As the others have said, there is always unrest in the Middle East, there is often drought in Asia, and Camping is a failed prophet several times over. He is just picking numbers, assigning his own meaning to them, and juggling them around to get the result he wants.

You should show your cousin this site and go through it with her to help her understand that the 2012 hoax consists of nothing but made up unscientific nonsense. There isn't a shred of evidence to suggest that 2012 will be anything other than a normal year. The doomsayers have no scientific education, so they use any nonsensical claim that enters their minds. It doesn't matter to them that these things can't happen. They are making money off gullible people and they don't care that they are scaring kids to death.

Scientists say nothing out of the ordinary is expected to occur in 2012.

When you go through and read the pages listed at the left, ask about anything you need more clarification on.
We've had a number of people who have a younger relative or friend being fooled by the 2012 brigade. They usually calm down when they are shown the facts. I hope your cousin will as well. Keep us posted on how she is doing.

Actually extraordinary things could happen, but it is in no way predictable and related to the 2012 hoax.
You might win the lottery for example.

Sure it could. Lots of things happen every year. That's what I consider ordinary, things that can and do happen, but are not necessarily predictable and aren't world-ending events. That's why I said that nothing out of the ordinary is expected to happen. If I won the lottery, that would be extraordinary for me, but people win the lottery every year, so it wouldn't be extraordinary for the world.

Yes, it would be, but then I'd probably die from shock without even getting to collect. Hmm…that's an awfully pessimistic view. Oh well, just like the 2012 EOTW, it won't happen.

The way of salvation according to family radio is not do you trust Christt's death for your salvation. It is do you agree with Harold. 1 Cor 15:3 says it is our trust in His substutional death in out place that saves us. Family radio used to teach this - although in a very distorted way. I trusted Chist in 1986 through them so I should know. The apostle Paul said the time would come when the church would not endure sound doctrine. Harold is proving Scripture is true. That's all. He is an old man loosing his mind. His following are the fools who have NO sound doctrine. It IS sad but Paul said this would happen.

Something extraordinary will indeed happen in 2012.

The sight of doomsayers desperately trying to pin their flawed predictions to another date will be a beautiful one. Of course, you guys just might have to make another site to counter the new doomsday claims sure to come once 2013 comes around. =P

Well, Nancy just claimed that the Zetas were testing us after her previous predictions failed to occur on schedule. She kept mostly the same claims, but changed Planet X to Nibiru and 2003 to 2012 and was good to go for another 9 years. And 1995 had been changed to 2003, so that was 8 years. I'm sure it will be a similar time span for the next one.

There will be a very close conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn on 21st December 2020. What's the betting that after nothing happens in 2012, an 8 year error in the Mayan calendar correlation will suddenly be 'discovered'?

Seriously, what is our obsession as a species with our own demise? People out there dedicate their entire lives to predicting the collapse of global society, whether it be through economic collapse, war, disease outbreak, solar flares, aliens, rogue planets, the toaster burning the bread again, what have you. Why are we so pessimistic as a species? Why can't we focus on how to improve our lives instead of how we could all die?

Harold Camping in his own way is fufuilling Bible Prophecy as he is a False Prophet and it's been proven many times. On May 21st he will once again of False Prophets and Religions Cults who have thought that they were revealed something there's a plethra of them and they all somehow link to Harold Camping's group in some strange way.

The Seven Day Adventists and Ellen G White said the world would end on Oct 22nd 1844 and when it didn't happen Ellen White claimed that Christ came back secretly of course and is judging the church. Oddly reminisciant of what Camping said after his 94 date didn't come to pass.

Herbert W Armstrong and this is one i noticed. Camping and Armstrong were both looked at as some big end time prophet. Both Armstrong and Camping had/have a worldwide ministry and of course they have/had made numerous failed doomsday claims that did not come to pass.
