After 2012?

Hey, it's me again. My necrophobia's been getting way better now, one baby step at a time.

I just wanted to ask a question that's been nagging at my brain: What will you guys do after 2012? Will you guys disappear? Or will you stay and debunk other doomsday myths?

Just wanted to ask.

Well, I will laugh at the doomsayers. Then, I don't know exactly.
If we are going to disappear? Literally, no. :-)

Astrogeek has previously mentioned leaving this board up as a digital monument of sorts. As for what I personally will do, I dunno. Much of my Internet "free time" has gone to posting here over the last year, and I suspect that will continue to be the case for this year and next, so I'll have to come up with something.

Hi DancingPurge. I'm glad to hear that you're getting better. Some of us have been at this for three years and more. Before Astrogeek set up this site, we were answering many 2012 questions on Yahoo Answers, and still are. Several of us saw that it was becoming a big problem for kids. Many of them thought they were going to die in 2012. We got together to try to defuse the 2012 hysteria. I have been looking forward to 2013, when everyone will know the world didn't end, and we would theoretically no longer be needed for this. It takes many hours every day to keep up with the questions. I hadn't really considered continuing it after that time. Since the next doomsday will probably be predicted for somewhere between 5 and 10 years after 2012, that gives us a bit of a break. It's hard to say at this point whether we would consider continuing in some fashion. I know that if we just stopped altogether, I would miss all my friends from 2012hoax.org and our private group that we started before this site. I guess it remains to be seen what will happen then.

Yes, you're right. The woo woos will still be there. They'll just dust off their old claims, tack on a new date, and be back in business.

I think that this web-site should active works in 2013 too because some of 2012ers may use alternative interpretation of Mayan calendar and claiming 2013.

In 2014 this should be made in kind of "internet museum" featuring list of person, institutions etc making 2012/2013 claims. Becuase is likely that in future will be new dooms-day hype with this same persons and recycled ideas.(like 2003).

I think I'll still be posting on doomsday sites to be honest and working on my own. They will choose another date, they will scam more innocent people.

Husband and I were just doing our monthly "getting out of debt" budget. He knows I get creeped out by the 2012 stuff and plays with my fears a little, but on the good side. Helps me laugh at the ridiculousness of it all. He threw down his pencil tossed our budget sheet and said "we don't have to worry about our debt. 2012 remember!" Wink. So in december 2012 I am going to finance new carpet, furniture and a nice washer and dryer. I plan to tell him, "its 2012, debt doesn't matter. I let the fear get the best of me." So after 2012 maybe I will be sitting in a newly furnished living room.
*Ya'll can't go away. There are plenty of things I will still worry about!!!

The last I've heard on the subject from Astrogeek, who is the site owner, he planned to leave it up as archived. We hadn't given any thought to continuing after 2012 was past because everyone would know it had been a hoax. Those of us who have been at it for 3-4 years have really been looking forward to 2013 to get a break. I don't know at this point what will happen with our group after that. I'd hate to lose contact with everyone. I like Palpatine's idea of a reunion, but don't know how feasible it would be with everyone so spread out, but it's a fun idea. I've been in daily contact with some of our original group for nearly three years, but have never met them. Anyway, if you still want to be able to reach me when 2012 is past, I'm sure we could exchange emails.
