I just was watching the news this evening and they had a story about one of the recent solar flares NASA caught on video, particularly the one on Thursday, probably the M3 class. Regardless, the news anchor called solar flares an "unusual event". How does she get that from something that has been happening like everyday? Just kinda made me laugh a bit at how they say things like that.

That was a strong solar flare. It's more unusual than a weaker solar flare. I'd not blame them in this case.

Eh, I would. Calling any solar flare an "unusual event," especially this far past minimum, is to not understand the situation.
