Doesn't mean people read more than three paragraphs in of course, but there we go.
Some people do, while some people don't. The biggest issue, I've recently discovered, with reading an article is that it's actually quite easy to overlook a "plausible" explanation, it's usually human impulse to look at the details of the situation, rather than a "plausible" explanation that may, or may not be correct, I believe that this is the issue with at least 'some' of the visitors.
Those who do not read the full paragraph are usually the doomsayers who just want something else to scream "The sky is falling!" over.
I am by no means saying that these are signs of an apocalypse, but I was wondering if anyone else does at least find it a little strange
Seeing as how others have failed to do so, I'll give you a direct answer to your real question. Whether it's natural, or not, it is quite strange that large amounts of species can simply die over night. Just because it's nothing new, doesn't make it any less strange.
In case someone is lost, here, you may find that certain occurrences are considered to be "strange", even when they're explained, even with a definitive answer, it's still strange how, and why it happened.
I personally think that it's strange that our Earth spins as fast as it does without flying off of it, in spite of knowing the facts of gravity, I still think that it's quite strange, so I see no reason as to why the sudden death of a large portion of a species wouldn't be strange.
My personal conclusion:
I, too, think that it's strange, even with knowing the explanation for the occurrence.
