Hello to all. Did anyone watch a movie called "2012: Startling New Secrets", by the SyFy channel? I just read the synopsis and I thought (just thought) it's a tad more scientific than 'Hysteria Channel & friends' documentaries. Anyway, I didn't watch the movie yet, so I thought if anyone here watched it and knows if it's good and scientific or it's just nonsense, like others.
I tend not to watch such ridiculous shows, especially aired by the "SyFy", or "Science Fiction" channel. The channel is called "Science Fiction" for a reason, you know.
SyFy, formerly SciFi has never been well-renowned to be a reliable documentary source, considering of course that the "Mocumentaries" aired by the channel has more holes than a cheese grater.
The History Channel, National Geographic and the Discovery Channel used to be very reliable sources for documentaries such as these, in the past, they would air short documentaries that talked about predictions and in most cases they would further explain that the so-called predictions have a good chance of being a load of bologna, but now they really do not make much effort to dispute anything, now that it's all about ratings.
SyFy: Good for Science Fiction shows.. Bad for reliable documentaries.
Wie Sie säen, so sollst du ernten.
I don't see anything wrong with SiFi movies.
As long as they don't claim it not be scientific accurate.
Actually, 2012 Startling New Secrets is supposed to be a documentary, not a movie. But I can't assert that, because I never watched this documentary/movie.
Anyway, I didn't watch the movie yet, so I thought if anyone here watched it and knows if it's good and scientific or it's just nonsense, like others
Don't get your hopes up. It's not a movie but the usual 'fakeumentary' nonsense with the regular crew of 'authors' making their baseless assertions and never a scientist to be seen. I started watching it, but after seeing Gregg Braden and George Noory appear within the first couple of minutes, I knew that it was already irretrievably beyond hope.
There's a review in the New York Daily News from which I quote:
If the ancient Mayans were smart enough to warn us about the end of the world on Dec. 21, 2012, it's a shame they didn't also warn us that, in the months and years preceding our termination, we'd get nutty TV specials about it. But say this for "2012: Startling New Secrets," the one hosted Sunday by Lester Holt on Syfy: It's a good primer on the whole 2012 industry. In any case, Holt maintains a professional tone even when much of this show's content suggests the soundtrack should be cuckoo clocks. He interviews numerous people who insist that despite all past false alarms about various apocalypses, this could be the big one. What Holt doesn't find is any actual evidence to suggest that's true. We apparently just need to take the ancient Mayans' word for it. Which we should do, one of Holt's sources explains, because the ancient Mayans were descendants of refugees from Mars and that's how they knew this stuff.
It can be found on YouTube if you really want to waste your time.
We could all be from Mars though, I learned that on the Science channel the other night. There is a theory saying the microscopic beings came from mars on a meteor or something of the sort to seed the Earth and created life. WE ARE ALL MARTIANS!!!! :-P Was a pretty cool show actually.

From the page, they beg the question.
"Is there be time to save ourselves?"
Just saying. It looks like it is a thing talking about the supposed "Hall of Records" in Egypt.

On Wikipedia "Hall of Records" page, it says:
"The psychic Edgar Cayce had several psychic readings on the Hall of Records. He claimed that in 1998 the Hall would be discovered and opened and humanity would move into a new era of prosperity. Cayce also suggested that the opening would coincide with the Second Coming of Christ."
How does this "Hall of Records" have anything to do with 2012, when no one doesnt even know it's there? Seems like it's used for an excuse to predict worlds end. Damn i really wanna watch that show now.
It doesn't have anything to do with 2012, of course. But it is one of the claims made by Patrick Geryl.

Yeah, but did it really come from him first? The reason I ask this is because I remember finding some group that has done research trying to find it for a long time, longer than PG has mentioned it. Of course pretty much all of his ideas are parroted from other people though so it doesn't surprise me.

I found this, when trying to figure out what the Hall of Records was (hadn't heard of it before this topic)

Kinda cute.
Yeah, our global consciousness will change in 2012. In 2025 when there is a new doomsday claim we'll remember back and think "yeah I think we learned our lesson from 2012." Therefore we are more aware, and our consciousness was lifted in 2012. The mayans were right! They predicted that their 13th baktun would cause false doomsday claims and that we would all learn from it! Its a new age!
Probably too optimistic.
But it is one of the claims made by Patrick Geryl.
Patrick Geryl?
The one that failed to predict this X1.5 Solar flare from yesterday?
