i am so scared about things i am hearing and what people are saying, its always on my mind sometimes i think what if people that say it wont happen are just putting it off them selves and the people that say it will really belive that it will i dunno but all i do know is that i am scared me and my fiance want to start a family but now i am having doubts incase it does happen, i dont wanna put any child of mine through this, iv also thaught about ending it a few times, yano get in there first,! there is so much i dont understand about it all but then i think some times ''do i wanna know'' but yeah i am scared and i think all i wanna hear is ''it wont happen'' this time i just want the truth so i am prepared can any one help me please its always on my mind so i dont have a laugh with any one no more i snap at people and im just no fun no more its kinda ruining my life!!!
First things first.
What are you scared about?
And as far as I see there is no reason not to start a family if you want it.
If you look at the left, this site has tried to debunk every 2012 claim possible. Maybe you already find the answers there.
Katie, yes you have a cause for concern but not of what ANY OF THESE FOLKS are saying to you. I can't tell whether you have any biblical beliefs but let me start by saying you are correct to be worried but not on the basis of having no hope as some of the replies that are here. Mankind in general get it wrong almost every time they open there mouth even the so called intellectual and the so called smartest among us. there is only on source for what is going to happen and what will be the outcome and that is the scriptures. Let me give you just a little bit of what its said. Christ was ask by his disciples when would the sign of his presence and of the end of the world. in Matthew he said "DO NOT BE MISLED" he then went on to relate how the things that you are seeing NOW (the time in which we are currently living) would mark a time period when we are getting close to this end. he said " this good news of the kingdom would be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations and then the end would come".
he also gave an insight as what he was referring to . he said it would be like the days of Noah " people were buying, they were selling the were planting eating, getting married starting families and get this he then then said. THEY TOOK NO NOTE AND THE FLOOD CAME AND SWEPT THEM ALL AWAY. So will be the presence of the son of man.
Look here at what he said . "they took no note" people here things but don't pay any attention to what is going on other than what is in their own lives. they are ready to tell you how things will happen and what YOU should do but are really clueless as to their own future.
you really don't have to be scared!!
he said "broad and spacious is the road leading to death and many are on it
cramped and narrow leading to life and VERY FEW ARE FINDING IT".
the world is referred to as wicked mankind not the earth itself!!
bible says god did not create the world for nothing but for it o be inhabited!
no the stars are not going to burn out. no the sun WILL be here forever and Yes you can survive it and have a oeace of mind the excels all thought.
to much more for me to list here i would write literally for hours but the "world ending" is actually a VERY good thing.
it is to remove disobedient mankind from these earth and leave morally upright ones in it.
destruction will be concise and systematic and will target only those who willfully mock God and the bible.
oh by the way it will be done by God's own hands not us.
He did it once before he will do it again real soon.
Your entitled to your beliefs jeff, but seriously man what is that answer about? The end of the world is a good thing? Really? Come on, what a rediculous comment to make to someone who's scared. Have a long hard look at yourself, some people here are athiests, some are religious but not necessarily Christian. It's intolerant people like you who should be scared, the worlds evolved and people like you are still praying for the stone age. If God exists, I'm sure tolerance would be the first thing he'd preach. I'm also interested to know what your definition of "morally upright" is? Does scaring people with nonsensical rants fall into that category? I doubt it.
to much more for me to list here i would write literally for hours but the "world ending" is actually a VERY good thing.
it is to remove disobedient mankind from these earth and leave morally upright ones in it.destruction will be concise and systematic and will target only those who willfully mock God and the bible.
You have zero facts for this claim.
This claim is as bad as the 2012 hoaxers.
I think I know you Jeff. I saw a user called "Jeff" answering questions about 2012 in the Y!A always claiming that Camping is right. I am not sure if that's you, but you are wrong anyway. What's the evidence that the end is near? A couple of earthquakes? What? You are just another fool as we always had posting here. Ok, you already wrote your woo post, now go on with your nonsense.
no the stars are not going to burn out. no the sun WILL be here forever and Yes you can survive it and have a oeace of mind the excels all thought.
Yes the stars will burn out, no the Sun will not be here forever, survival plans don't really stretch a few billion years into the future. I have to say, there is something poetic in a star's death. Star deaths had to happen for any of us to even be here in the first place.
it is to remove disobedient mankind from these earth and leave morally upright ones in it.
Urge to launch into full on strong atheist mode rising…
destruction will be concise and systematic and will target only those who willfully mock God and the bible.
It's no good, I'm going to pop. God's a little teapot short and stout…
Ugh, would you please not say that? I think religious views should be kept to a minimum and only if necessary. Like when a person misunderstands a religious doctrine. And yes, technically atheism is a religion. A religion is a set of beliefs about the nature, cause and purpose of the universe. (Plus some morals but let's not go there).
If a religion is a set of beliefs, what set of beliefs do all atheists ascribe to? There is only one belief all atheists share, and that's the lack of a belief in a deity, it's the whole point of atheism: not being a theist. If that's all that's required for something to be a religion, then maybe Christianity is the second largest religion behind Gravity. One rule, everyone abides by it.
Religious views should not be kept to a minimum if they are the sole basis of an argument. Did I have to make a song and dance while telling people about Bertrand Russell's teapot analogy for the burden of proof? Nope. Does it negate the point that Jeff - on a largely skeptical, scientific board - would still have to back up his claims that 'destruction will be concise and systematic and will target only those who willfully mock God and the bible.'?
And let's put a bit of perspective on that. Jeff posts a reply to a topic titled 'i am so scared !' which can be summed up as "yes, fear God, he will punish you if you don't", and along comes a teapot and that's the crossing the line. Not sure I follow there, but the off topic board might get interesting next time religion crops up…
Yes I agree that any discussion here about a religion should be put to the minimum unless it is related to 2012.
But you are wrong about atheism. I do not believe in nature, cause and purpose of the universe.
You are defining New Agers not atheists.
I want to add that even if you are a true believer.
The claim of Jeff gave is as worthy as any other 2012 hoaxers claim.
Because it is based on zero facts.
Real science facts tends to become more and more accurate over time.
2012 claims tend to become contradict the other more and more.
So is Jefs claims, it contradicts many other religious believes of the same group.
For example. One Christian group claims that these are the end times quoting from the bible, but another Christian group will say this is not the end also quoting from the same bible. For every Christian group you will get a different interpretation. This can only mean one thing. None of those interpretations are correct. because if they were, then any Christian group would come to almost the same conclusion independently. The exact same pattern you find with the 2012 hoaxers.
oh by the way it will be done by God's own hands not us.
He did it once before he will do it again real soon.
That's kind of like threatening me with the next rise of Sauron, so apparently there isn't much to worry about.
Hello Jeff;
I feel I have to make something very clear here… This is a secular site.
We deal with the 2012 doomsday hoax with science and reason here, regardless of the various religious and philosophical beliefs of the participants. People come here and ask questions, and we answer them with facts, data, science and reason. We don't preach at them.
Please review the rules for participating in the forums, in particular the bit about staying on topic.
Thanks.
"Do you ever think about things you do think about?" - Henry Drummond to Matthew Harrison Brady in Inherit the Wind
well im scared of the world ending ???? and if you read this site it would worry you as well i think! :S
It's a fact, because all stars has to die at some point. And since our sun is a star, it's going to die in a huge explotion. But dont worry though, wont be for another billion of years.
I my self refuse to believe in worlds end, until i see it with my own eyes. Since there's no evidence of Nibiru, poleshift and all the other doomsday predictions, i dont see why i should believe them. Just look at all the predictions for 2012, does that seem realistic, that all this will happen? Most of the predictions was originally set for 1998, and since that didnt happen, well they just moved the date, and im sure they will do it again, after 2012.
- “I fear one day I'll meet God, he'll sneeze and I won't know what to say.”
nope……. so you dont have facts as well as those people saying it will happen GREAT!!!!!!!! now i really i am scared !
It's all about probability, ultimately.
There is a probability of 1 (that is to say, it's absolutely certain) that this planet will at some point in it's future no longer be here.
There is a high probability that the death of the Sun will be to blame, to the point where Earth will be inside the solar atmosphere for a while - you wouldn't exactly want to be around when that happens.
There is though high probability that far before that, the effects of the dying Sun will have rendered the Earth inhabitable anyway, leaving practically a dead planet.
Moving down the scale, there is a likelihood of asteroid impacts, of many scales - some just tiny, some much larger. There could be another big one out there with our name on it, remembering the Dinosaurs for a moment… but even with that event, life and the Earth kept on going.
All of these however are far in the future, far beyond any of our lifetimes. Closer to home are the likes of Apophis, an asteroid with an impact probability so small, and a small scale to match that even if it did hit Earth, it's effects would be largely localized, not global. And that's one of the few objects that you could easily live to witness.
And then, near the bottom of the probability scale are the events so unlikely to happen they aren't worth mentioning, or so impossible that it's surprising how anybody can live in fear over them. That's where this site focuses much of it's time, showing people how the many claims made about the end of the world in 2012 are physically impossible, they have a probability of 0, they can never happen, or can never have the devastating impact that proponents bang on about.
So when you mention putting children through this and so on, it's likely that your great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandchildren will still be waiting for something to end the world, before giving up and having great-great-great-great-great-great-grandchildren of their own.
I thought Apophis would wipe out life, do you have a source to this?
- “I fear one day I'll meet God, he'll sneeze and I won't know what to say.”
Your simplest sources would be looking on good ol' Wikipedia for starters, or looking at good ol' Neil DeGrasse Tyson talk about it in his own style.
While imagining the potential impact events with all sorts of variables can be entertaining, to be honest (I'm pretty sure there are impact generators online where you can make your own asteroid and slam them into Earth in various ways), it doesn't stop the fact that it's been rated as a Level 0 on the Torino Scale, which might as well be akin to it not existing in the first place.
I thought Apophis would wipe out life, do you have a source to this?
Apophis is destined to fail to hit Earth big time.
It will fail with 249,999 to one.
That is a 24,999,900% chance that it will fail to put it in perspective.
I know, but was certain that i read that IF it hit, it could wipe of life, but looking at NASA's info about it, i realised it just says impact, nothing about wiping out life.
- “I fear one day I'll meet God, he'll sneeze and I won't know what to say.”
yeah i would like to think that also i really would but, there is always that niggling in the back of my mind, saying what if it does happen and then i go on to a website and it says all this scientific stuff that seems to be professional and then im back to square one :s but i have always wondered how any one could put a date ''for the end'', unless someone sat there with a calculator and added a load of numbers together from the bible and what have ya, but i dunno i love this site it tells me every thing i want to hear and i would recommend it to every one because i know a lot of people in the same boat as me.
You have to ask your self, why would the world be any more likely to go under in 2012, then tomorrow, when the evidence is the same? I can say tomorrow the world ends, but that doesnt make it true. Therefore, there is no reason to think "what if.." because that is like saying "what if the world ended tomorrow." or "what if the world ends right now".
No one deserves to be freaked out about these idiots trying to make money. Sadly, there's no rule against lying on the internet.
Why would a bunch of numbers from the bible, proof worlds end? Numorology is only what people make of it. They make it, what they want it to be, by adding the numbers they want.
- “I fear one day I'll meet God, he'll sneeze and I won't know what to say.”
katie, the last people that would know when the world would end would be those people are so ignorant in science that they would not see it coming.
But these end of the world people are masters in deception. It is the only thing they are good at.
Hi Katie,
It looks like you've bounced back and forth so many times this evening that I hardly know where to start.
It sounds as if you are in no shape emotionally to be starting a family right now. That's just my opinion from reading your posts. Not because of 2012, as there isn't a shred of evidence to even suggest that 2012 will be anything other than an ordinary year. I just think you should get yourself settled down first.
Since we have all the 2012 claims covered at length, which you can pick from the menu at the left, you should do some reading. Just saying that you're afraid the world will end in 2012 is awfully general. We have written about 100 pages on the various 2012 subjects. That is a bit too large to fit into the discussion forums.
No one can ever prove 100.00000000000….% that the world won't end in 2012 or any year chosen at random. We can tell you that there is no known threat that could end the world any time in the near future. This is not just an opinion. It is scientific fact. There is nothing to distinguish 2012 from any other year.
The sites you've been reading, that you think sound scientific, are just wild speculation by people who don't have any scientific background. They are people who have books, DVDs, "survival kits," space in nonexistent shelters, and other assorted junk to sell. One of them "hears" messages from aliens in her head. One got an honorary PhD for attending a UFO convention. Some are delusional and some are just lying. Anyone who says the world is going to end soon wants to sell you something.
What makes it difficult to give you proof is that you don't seem to fear any specific thing. We have already proven that each claim is false. If you would look through the menu and read the pages covering the things you fear, then you could ask questions about specific claims. Here is a quick rundown.
No one made any prophecies about 2012, not the Maya, the Bible, Nostradamus, or anyone else. This was all invented by the crackpots with the doomsday sites.
The Mayan calendar doesn't end. It just ends the current cycle and begins the next one.
There is no polar reversal taking place in 2012. The geographic (rotational) poles can't reverse. Our page on Rotational Pole Shift gives you the calculations showing why.
A geomagnetic reversal takes from hundreds to thousands of years to complete. The only effect would be that compasses would point south when it was completed. Even if one could begin by 2012, we wouldn't notice anything. The magnetic poles have nothing to do with rotation or with positioning of land masses.
There is no planetary alignment in 2012. When we do have what people call planetary alignments, that is only how we see them from our view here on Earth. They are nowhere near being actually aligned in space. A true alignment from the Sun outward can't happen because the planets' orbits are not on the same plane. If such an alignment could and did happen, it would raise the tides by less than the thickness of a human hair.
The only galactic alignment occurring in 2012 is the approximate alignment that occurs on the solstices every year.
The black hole at the center of the galaxy is 26,000 light years away. We are not moving toward it.
We have had several solar flares lately. The only effect is some pretty aurorae (northern and southern lights). The worst they can do is affect some satellites or electrical grids.
Nibiru doesn't exist. It was made up by Zecharia Sitchen from his misinterpretation of Sumerian writings about Jupiter.
There is no comet or asteroid of any dangerous size headed for Earth.
The movie 2012 is fiction.
Zombies don't exist.
Well, my little dogs are begging me to feed them, so I'd better do it. Please do some reading and then ask about anything where you need clarification.
thanks very much for you time its put my mind at rest now thanks, but as for me been emotionally ready for starting a family, last year i had an ectopic pregnancy and nearly died my self it took a lot out of me, including my confidence, but just lately i feel the strength to start again me and my fiancee so i would like to think i have passed the ''emotionally'' not ready stage because after what i have been through i have never been more ready.
Katie, i used to post under my full name but due to google searches and my profession i now have a shortened name but many posters on here know me.
Have you had counselling for what was a horrific experience you suffered last year? My guess is going to be no, and that subsequently emotionally you are imbalanced. This slight, even if minimal emotional change can be devastating to your world, your rationality and your powers of deduction.
Let me put it this way, say you are still down over this, and it drags you down physically and emotionally, you are already, mentally tired. This way the brain lets in thoughts that it would usually bat away as nonsense, and no matter what rational things are said, you still let them in, and cant filter them out, this is where the nonsense starts. One tiny thought, spirals, you will read more and more into it. Slowly but surely you will think of this more, and then all the normal parts of your day and thoughts are replaced with this one of doom.
Now you came on here wanting us to say "everything will be ok". but had somebody of said that, you would have thought "o well, he will be wrong". You then want facts to prove this wont happen. I think the first thing you need to look at is, facts that it WILL happen.
Nobody goes in to court already guilty and asks the defendant to prove himself innocent. here, much like a prosecution, it is for the proponents to put their facts on the table. We have nibiru, which has been totally disproved now by NASA. We have a Mayan book which even the Mayans say does not mean what people are taking it to mean.
We have countless ways of disproving what is being said, but the people claiming them, have 0 ways of proving their ideas. So it again comes back to, you. I would suggest visiting your doctors, and going to your pharmacy and getting some nytol (thats the english sleeping pill). The more you rest, and talk, and get active again, the more you can rationalise.
I would love to know how many times the world was supposed to end. I can remember at least 4 times in my short 30 years. The problem now is how fast information spreads coupled with the media circus of 24 hour news channels who scare people into obssesive tuning in. I want the history channel to do a show on how many times the world has not ended.

i think you answered your own question. you've looked to human sources for you answers that is why you will forever get false and misleading answers no matter how reputable they may sound. they are still imperfect mistake prone humans with absolutly no clue all the stuff you see on these shows and read from these "experts" come out flat.
i think you answered your own question. you've looked to human sources for you answers that is why you will forever get false and misleading answers no matter how reputable they may sound. they are still imperfect mistake prone humans with absolutly no clue all the stuff you see on these shows and read from these "experts" come out flat.
You are saying this based on what?
And your an expert how? No, really, why should we believe you? Give me one peice of evidence, just one, that proves ANYTHING you say. Your no expert, your a brain washed sheep my friend, and your attempts to turn the rest of us into zombies obeying whatever the next "prophet" tells us to won't go down well here. Ever tried thinking for yourself? It's great, you can do all kinds of things, like….oh I don't know, live. Keep on bleating.
you've looked to human sources for you answers
Ironically, so have you.
'Jeff' said: "there [sic] is only on [sic] source for what is going to happen and what will be the outcome and that is the scriptures."
they are still imperfect mistake prone humans with absolutly no clue all the stuff you see on these shows and read from these "experts" come out flat.
Yet you can't even begin to identify just one faulty piece of information on this website. Funny, that. Of course, in order to do such a thing, you would be a mere "human source." Oops.
so what about the solarstrom?? is there to be one or not?
so what about the solarstrom?? is there to be one or not?
So many people are confusing the solar maximum with a solar storm. Solar storms aren't predicted weeks, months or years ahead of time. The next solar maximum, which comes around about every 11 years, is projected for 2013 and expected to be weaker than average. During solar maximums, we have an increased chance of solar storms, meaning there is a higher chance of those storms affecting Earth. Seldom do we get anything more than auroras. There have been several solar storms this year already, and I'm betting you didn't notice.
There are often solar storms. They have occurred this year, as they will in 2012, 2013, 2014, etc. You don't need to worry about them unless you think you can't live without your cell phone for a few days or perhaps an electrical outage. In 1994, my secretary went without power for more than a week after a heavy snowstorm. It was definitely a hardship, but not life threatening.
guys if ever it does happen, will you update us about it? i think my cousin them will not bare not having electricity hahaha… and gee i might not have electricity to get into this site… dang…
Well, the good thing is that the chance of having power outages is no greater than at any time in the past, and probably less chance since we now have a couple of days warning.
Regarding Solar Storms, the solar maximum is around next year right? I hope they strengthened the power grids. I do NOT want to be stuck without electricity. But it isn't life-threatening. :)
The solar maximum is expected to be about May 2013. Old data had it occurring in 2012, but we had an extended minimum, which moved the maximum out to mid-2013. It is also expected to be waeker than average and weaker than the last maximum in 2001.
