In a word, no. The discussion for the Wikipedia article summed it up nicely, in that it is 'notable stupidity', that is we should have a look at it and laugh along, though it seems plenty of people were gullible enough to literally buy into it all.

John Titor is a hoax going back a decade. I actually stumbled across that hoopla shortly after it all happened. His supposed "predictions" have been failing steadily ever since, and much of his commentary was based on or outright ripped from popular stories of the day. Of course, the grand cop-out is that our world line might not match the one he came from, which is just another way of saying, "I'm a fraud!"

I think you can safely disregard everything about the John Titor myth. It's crap.
