I know there have been a few worried posts about tomorrow's Apocalypse 2012 on CNBC so I was looking around for some indication of what type of program it would be. I couldn't find a cast list or credit list, but it appears from an article posted today on CNBC's website, it's not going to be a doomathon. It's nice article so I definitely suggest reading it.
You don't have to create another thread about this, since we have a similar thread about this CNBC's documentary. And you posted on it.
My reply to you:

I realize I didn't have to, but I wanted to post the link for the OP, as well as make a new post for those who might be worried. I know new programming on 2012 has a strong potentional to scare people and with the show airing 4 times tomorrow, it will hopefully not get lost in the the threads.

I'll say this one last time. These "documentaries" are put out because networks are picking up on 2012 as a popular topic. It's yet another group of people cashing in on this hoax. People need to realise that just because it's on t.v or a celebrity believes in it or a singer brings out a song about it, a 2012 doomsday WILL NOT HAPPEN. We know the science (or lack of it) behind these scenarios, we know they can't happen the way people say it will. It's a pile of superstitious crap, that doom and gloomers and outright crazy people have jumped on. They have used the Internet to spread their nonsense all over and a lot of people, unfortunately, have bought into it. Life is to short, if your a kid, go and live like a kid, I wish I could. Pretty soon your going to have to work and pay bills and have real worries. Trust me, being a kid is great, don't let a bunch of lies take your childhood away from you.

At the time of your posting, it's still 3 hours away from being broadcast. From the publicity, it seems as though it might be doing its own share of debunking.
Why don't you watch it and do the debunking for us? You have all the information you need in the menu on the left. If you don't catch it today, I'm sure it will apppear on YouTube or another online source.
I started to watch it but turned the channel when I saw Geryl within the first few minutes. How does he have time to appear in crap like that if he supposedly is so busy with his group. I'll just wait til somebody sees it and reviews it. Maybe it'll have some new debunking of PGs crap and make him look crazy at the same time.

Don't watch it if you don't want to bud. People here will most likely end up reviewing it after watching it, so just be patient.

I watched what I could, missed a few minutes, but it wasn't a bad program. I think we expect the typical "worst case scenario mockumentaries being portrayed as reality" type of show but it wasn't. David Marrison was on, which leads me to believe it may be the same broadcast from CBC, but I can't be entirely sure since I didn't see that one. Essentially it outlines how much money 2012 is pulling in. PG compared his selection of "team members" to American Idol. There was also a guy who has the largest online 2012 supply shop. He actually said after he saw how much people were profitting off of Y2K, he swore if he had the opportunity he would do the same. There was an interview with a man who builds bunkers. You want to know how much they cost? Half a million dollars! He was a little wishy-washy but eventually admitted he doesn't believe anything is going to happen. At first he said he hoped nothing would happen, but then said he doesn't believe it. The part I found quite humorus was the $2000 plus week long trip to Mexico where you could tour the Mayan ruins. The trip attracted one woman who seemed to believe she came up with a pattern that apparently does something to the brain to promote peace. Her t-shirt design will be sold online and in upscale boutiques. All in all, the show needs no debunking and any normal level headed person would be able to decipher fact from fiction.
Virtually everything you mentioned was included in the CBC 'Apocalypse 2012' broadcast of early December 2010. This is available on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3HojjPM9xzk
Discussion pretty much.

There was aa guy on there that believed we are in a computer program and that he was called to jump off a cliff on 12/21/2012 at 11:11 to save the world…hahahaha
Btw, david Morrison cracks me up. He made geryl and others look like idiots. Msot of the program seemed to show that people are just making money off it nothing more. If they think the world is really going to end then they wouldn't worry about money.
Geryl and others look like idiots in this show. This same one was broadcast a while back, it's actually a very good example of how these doomsayers are doing this purely for money. They ask David Morrison about geryls ideas and he just shakes his head and says it's total nonsense. I'd advise anyone who is scared to watch this show, it does a good job of showing these people at their handwaving, scheming best.
What exactly did PG have to say in the show? Anything new, or was it the same old crap? Was wondering if there would be anything said about the "group".
“In all matters of opinion, our adversaries are insane.” - Oscar Wilde
He just says the usual, but you see him and louis de cordier or whatever his name is skulking around the mountains taking measurements and stuff, probably just for show. It's worth watching just for David morrisons reaction when he's asked about geryls theory, it's hilarious. It's honestly a pretty good debunking of the 2012 idiots.
If you watched the old documentary, its the exact same. They called it new, so they could get viewers.
I liked David Morrison's reaction as well, however, I am extremely skeptical of camera tricks. I wish I could have heard the question. It wouldn't surprise me if it really was his reaction to Geryl's claims though, he has gotten pretty upset with me in the past for asking about it.
Yeah, one of the only questions that plagues my mind still is whether or not his little "group" built any "bunkers" or anything.
“In all matters of opinion, our adversaries are insane.” - Oscar Wilde
They haven't. They were looking for places to build them,,but they haven't started yet.
*live*laugh*love*dance*
I did see your answer, so I wasn't ignoring it, I apologize for not acknowledging it. I was just wondering since James said the documentary was older how long ago it was, so I didn't know if PG has by now done anything more by now. I'll tell you what, if he hasn't then there is something definitely fishy with that, because the "end of civilization proof" things he claimed they were supposed to build wouldn't be done anywhere near soon enough if they haven't even been started yet.
“In all matters of opinion, our adversaries are insane.” - Oscar Wilde
The show aired back in late 2010. So I am assuming it was filmed late 2009 or early 2010. Either way, somewhere Geryl said that he needed the billion dollars within 4 months. The problem is, he said that 3 years ago. Maybe it was on Penn and Teller where he said it.
Also in this show, he says something like "It could happen earlier, I don't know" - - Which is an odd thing to say when, first of all, talking about the sun. Second of all, when telling everyone how sure you are and how accurate the Maya are.
Thanks for the info James. And I did find it peculiar that somebody who portrays themselves as an all knowing prophet to say something like that. Also that is interesting to point out the dates like you did, and shows the inconsistency.
“In all matters of opinion, our adversaries are insane.” - Oscar Wilde
Have you personally asked him James? What did you ask him and what did he say?
I asked him a looong time ago about Geryl's claims in general, and he just replied simply "thats nonsense"
After that I asked him a few more things, and he would just get angry or not answer. I found that if you ask him without mentioning 2012 at all, and sound fairly intellectual in your question, he will be more likely to respond with a real answer.
I do sometimes get a kick out of the amount of typos he has whenever he uses his iPad. Touch screens ftw. Also sometimes he forgets to removes his signiture that includes his cell phone number. Luck for him, i'm not the malicious type to text or call him every 5 minutes :-)
Thanks James, just goes to show how stupid geryls claims are though, David morrisons been answering 2012 questions for a few years and even he just throws his claims in the trash, they're obviously not even worth his while. I noticed on his ask an astrobiologist page recently that he said he was cutting back on his answers to pseudoscientific questions. I do feel for the guy, here's a man who's devoted most of his life to real science trying to do a service to the public by answering scientific questions, and because of a few wannabe idiots he's suddenly inundated with crap about fake planets and pole shifts.
Well whether he likes it or not, answering those psuedoscience questions with real science is probably the most beneficial thing about his site. It teaches us what is right and what is wrong, without having to dig through google to get there. He may have dedicated his life to science, but he can't expect people to not ask those type of questions in a world where it is so easy to spread b.s.
Woaw, now i really wanna watch it. Anyone know if it's online?
- “I fear one day I'll meet God, he'll sneeze and I won't know what to say.”
Seems it's the same as the CBC Doc Zone broadcast from December: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3HojjPM9xzk
Thanks, that was quite interesting to watch.
Oh oh, in the 4th (i think it was) part .. Was that just a doomsayers admitting he didnt believe it?!
- “I fear one day I'll meet God, he'll sneeze and I won't know what to say.”
Yes, it looks like Lawrence Joseph is starting to backtrack - as will some more of them eventually when we get well into 2012 and there's precious little sign of anything happening.
He seems to be concentrating his particular doomsday prediction on the Sun. Annoyingly for Joseph, the Sun underwent a protracted minimum of activity just as his book, "Apocalypse 2012" was published in 2007, so even he can see that his "deadly solar flares" claim is likely to be very wide of the mark.
The fact that his book is available second hand from Amazon for as little as 8 cents would appear to indicate that some readers realise they've been sold a lemon.
I really cant wait to see that happening, specially with Geryl. Sadly im afraid his too brainwashed, and far out to be willing to admit anything.
Also the dude who was creating shelters, admitted that he only did it for the money. I guess it's the same reason why hoaxers are changing the date so much lately.
What i look forward to the most about 22th December 2012, is not that all this hoaxing will be over, but is to see where all the believers will be, and what they will say, if anything.

As you, I want this madness over as soon as possible. While I do not believe they will stop talking at all, I truly believe that the main proponents may give up. Indications of that are the new end-dates being suggested by other doomsayers and some great examples of doomsayers shuting down 'doomsites'.
That makes anyone happy here, I believe.
heres a little faq from cnbc

That FAQ is quite good, unaccommodating toward 2012 doomsayers and giving just a hint of derision. It's well written. I'm pleasantly surprised for once.
