Hey all I have been visiting this site regularly for the past month or so and thought I should finally say something.

I have had mental health problems for the past couple of years, I was starting to get over them when I found out about this rumour going around. At the time I thought nothing of it and just carried on. I actually enjoyed the 2012 movie lol I watched knowing that it a film and was fictional.

However when the earthquake and tsunami hit Japan, thats when I stupidly let my mind wonder. So I looked more into the rumour and felt alittle uneasy as to what I found. I eventually came across a few sites including thisone which debunk it. This site went into alot more detail than the others in most of the aspects and helped put my mind a bit more at ease. So thank you for that. I also like the fact that you guys can deal with trolls better than other sites. I came across one article which completely debunked what was going to happen in 2012 and the the first comment was someone explaining why it would happen and that comment getting multiple likes. I mean come on whoever is doing that is just encouraging them and thats not doing anyone any good.

My problem is that Im still getting this nagging thought in the back of my mind which is thinking that something may happen even though I know it wont and I dont know how to deal with it. I dont even know why I still have this thought. I try doing stuff to keep myself busy to distract myself like going out with friends, exercising, watching TV. Basically stuff suggested on the dealing with fear section on this site. Im not really sure what else to do…..

Anyone have any suggestions?

Oh btw I came across a site… well a blog which goes into more detail about Nostradamus and the fact he didnt predict the world endind in 2012 which you guys may want to look in to. The only problem is that I cant find much about the author so credibility becomes a bit of a problem all I know is that he has written about 20 books and around half are about Nostradamus. Also he has some thoughts of his own that are alittle bit…. farfetched to say the least… I dont know if you know him but his name is Peter Lemesurier and this is his blog profile with all his posts.

I think talking about your fear could help.

One thing I can tell you, that out there, astronomically there is nothing that fits any description related to any 2012 claims.
But there is 100% evidence that all 2012 hoaxers that are actively promoting it are real frauds.

Bad things could an will happen, but they are part of the natural occurrences of this world.
Life would be very boring if this was a perfect safe world ;-)

I was in the same boat as you. It's just anxiety. You're going to find yourself trying to pinpoint your fear and failing because the anxiety and fear is stopping you from rationalizing. It sucks I know, really I do but it wears down eventually and you start tio feel a bit silly. It stays with you but in a nagging way that you can shrug off, not an overwhelming takedown

Hi Tired,
You mentioned that the earthquake and tsunami in Japan got you started worrying. You might want to consider the fact that there have been worse disasters throughout history and the world didn't end. The deadliest earthquake in history was in China in 1556. The death toll was 830,000. That was 455 years ago and we're still here. The most powerful earthquake recorded was in Chile in 1960. That was over 50 years ago. You really don't need to worry about earthquakes signaling the end of the world. They have been happening for billions of years and will happen for billions more.
Japan is a very seismically active area. They have always had earthquakes and will continue to have them.

Yeah I know. lol Im actually my own worst enemy when it comes to stuff like this, I over think way too much. Something I need to work on. My depression left me prone to, well I wouldnt say fully believing these doomsdayers but enough to worry about it.

I know Japan is a country which is incredibly prone to earthquakes. A couple of nights ago my ex posted a link on her facebook status which counted the number of earthquakes in or off the coast of Japan since 11th March, because she was living there when it happened. There has been over 1000 earthquakes there since 11th March and you can see the magnitude of them steadily decreasing, I think its at around 4.5 now. So not damaging. I remember hearing on the news that some geologists had predicted that these would probably continue for months.

Anyways talking about it has helped a great deal so far so thanks all. I'll try and continue chatting more into the future :)

Your story is the same as mine.

My depression reawakened around the time of the earthquake, after i saw comments about various doomsday objects on youtube videos and news reports. One month later and i'm back to normal, thanks to this site.

Stick around, and don't be afraid to ask questions. You'll feel better once you start to learn what's right and what's balls.
