Okay, so I have read through all the pages (at least I think all) here and the back of my mind somewhat knows that it's all a hoax, but I can't shake the inevitable 'what if'. It's really annoying considering how I'm taking meds for anxiety and I have constant panic attacks and I'm currently seeing a psychiatrist due to my obsessive behaviour of searching for 2012/doomsday related material.
Anyway, recently, I've managed to get off the internet (which helped me hugely) and started watching TV. I was watching a crime channel (my personal interest is crime solving) and then there comes up a commercial for this show, 'Decoded' or whatever, on the…wait for it…History Channel. Now, I used to love the History Channel because of its fantastic HISTORICAL documentaries based on fact, but I stopped watching when they started going on about 2012 and Nostradamus and that kind of nonsense. I have also read the History Channel page on this site and was impressed, but anyway the show in the commercial was called 'Decoded' or something like that. Curious, since they didn't really mention the specifics of what exactly the show was about, I searched it up and came to the official episode guide. The first line of the show sypnosis reads as such:
What if the history you knew was only half the story? Brad Meltzer's Decoded investigates the other half: the secret history of the symbols and codes that surround us everyday.
So I checked out the episode guide and voila! One of the episodes is titled…'2012'. The sypnosis?
Best-selling author Brad Meltzer and the team race against time to decipher ancient prophecies that warn of worldwide destruction in the year 2012. In fact, Christians, Jews, Muslims and even Native Americans have eerily similar visions as to how the world will end. And now computer models with tremendous accuracy ratings are said to have predicted hurricane Katrina, the anthrax scare and even 9-11. What these same computer models predict for the year 2012… is terrifying. Is this the beginning of the end of world? Brad begins the search for answers by sending the Decoded team to the American southwest. They'll check out the famous Hopi prophecy rock, whose centuries-old carvings seem to have reliably foretold cataclysmic world events.
Now, having read the 'Hopi' page on this site that part doesn't really concern me, but what I'm concerned about is this: "And now computer models with tremendous accuracy ratings are said to have predicted hurricane Katrina, the anthrax scare and even 9-11. What these same computer models predict for the year 2012… is terrifying. Is this the beginning of the end of world?"
So my question is, basically, what are these 'computer models', why haven't I heard of them and what exactly do they mean by 'what these same computer models predict for the year 2012…is terrifying'? Well, all right, so I'm not exactly anxious to the point of a breakdown but I just really want to know what this is all about. Of course I understand the need to exaggerate everything so that people will watch the show (I feel sorry for all the children who do), but it's my two cents that they wouldn't feature these 'computer models' if they weren't 'all that', so to speak. So…opinions? Also if someone could bother to debunk the entire sypnosis, that would be helpful too, though it isn't neccessary since it's mostly just the so-called 'highly accurate' computer models part that bother me. Also I'm not going to bother even trying to watch the show, so please don't ask me to since I know it won't help me as well.
Thanks guys; I know all this asking-for-debunking thing is getting really tiresome for you all, but I'm really grateful that people like you take time to help people like me with their anxieties.
As a side note, I think someone mentioned a 'Pane Andov' guy in another topic. I've said this before but I really think it would be fantastic if someone could add a page for him under 'proponents'. Thanks again.
