I am it starts over here at 8:30am I am gonna have my flag to wave, and my vodka ready to cry into when Wills finally says I do :'( and I have a special wedding CD too so that will be on full blast in the background :D happy daze ;)

For the life of me, I can't figure out why anyone cares. I'd like to chalk it up to just being a national thing, but it's all the American media want to talk about right now as well.

Agreed. No offense to anyone but the news is OBSESSED with this in the USA. think there are more important things going on in our world that needs to be addressed than the royal wedding.

I don't care, but then I'm not a full on Brit. The BBCs Royal Correspondent doesn't seem to care either, but then he's had to talk about it every hour of the day for umpteen months.

Tell you what I will be watching live on Friday though, launch of Endeavours last flight, weather permitting.

I don't see where you got a lecture, emmy. You asked and they told you they didn't much care about the wedding. I understand that the British are very interested because they are your royal family. So, don't be offended that people outside England are less interested. That's only natural.

I'm not interested in this wedding. To me, it's just another royal wedding. The media here is giving special attention to the wedding too. But I don't hate weddings, I just don't want to waste my time with weddings 8,000 km away from where I live.
However, I respect your opinion, Emmy, and I understand that it is important to all british. :-)

Although I live in the US, so it's not really that big of a deal to me, I would kind of see it as a big deal for the royal family. If my information is correct, the royal wedding tomorrow marks a big turning point for England. There has not been a commoner to marry into the royal family since 1533, when Anne Boylen marriend Henry the 8th - Even then, it was a bad thing, it was the last straw between the pope and the Church of England. Anne Boylen is the mother of Queen Elizabeth 1st - who had an entire era named after her.

I find it all quite interesting :)

Information to add: In 1536 Anne Boylen was tried for high treason and was beheaded on counts that were unconvincing, although the king did not care.

Not to mention that in order to even marry Anne Boleyn, Henry had to divorce his wife Queen Katherine. Afterwards, he fought with the pope and broke away in order to create the Church of England. Oh, and I think he killed off a lot of queens after that.

Actually, Henry VIII only had two of his wives executed, Anne Boleyn and Kathryn Howard. He divorced two, Catherine of Aragon and Anne of Cleves. One died naturally during their marriage, Jane Seymour. Katherine Parr outlived Henry.

I'm watching it atm. Guess it inspires some feeling of patriotism but it's hardly that exciting.

Also, I have today off anyway so the national day off doesn't benefit me.

I didn't watch because I wasn't very interested… But I think it's a really cool tradition y'all have over there and it was neat to see everybody dawning their union Jack camping out! I hope everyone enjoys their day off and has fun!
