So hey im new here and have been reaading through the comments and ive noticed theres alot of conspiracy threads. What i would like to know is do these conspiracies hold water i saw an ''illuminati'' thread never knew what it was nd googled illumianti and suddenly im confronted with plots to take over world and all ''illuminati symbols'' in music videos,movies and video games etc.Do these claims make sense and if they dont why are they in so many media ''items'' such as Tv Programs,Movies and games. Thank you

The illumanti were originally a seceret society in Bavaria. They opposed the power exerted by the church and nobles of the time period, and generally were bright thinking individuals such as philosophers and scientists. Some people back then were athiests and didn't agree with the church, and so were prosecuted by the church. That in turn is what I've heard drove them underground as a "secret society". The conspiracy theories are rampant with the illuminati. Officially it is said that the Illuminati fell apart in 1795. The idea of a secret society of any type though is what fuels conspiracy theorists on this matter I believe. In their minds there has to be going more going on behind the scenes than what we are told, the government leaders must be hiding something. Of course I ask, which governments? There are many different governments around the world, and more than a couple of them do not like each other. You think crazy Kim Jong-il is a part of this organization? He may want to take over the world, but I highly doubt he wants to share it with some secret organization, hell he is like GOD in his country. I was just using North Korea as an example, but you get the point because the same thing goes for other governments in the world. There always have been and always will be conspiracy theories surrounding governments and other big name companies etc. People generally do not trust these people in any position of power and when they can't prove they are evil, they make up conspiracy theories saying why they are evil and want to take over the world.

I personally believe that people want to believe that someone is in control. If the government didn't exist, then their brains would make something up to believe that someone is in control. When something goes wrong, like 9/11, they start to freak out because there is no control. It was just easier for these people to create a conspiracy, which puts the government back in control. Right now, the media is constantly reporting negative news. Many people are creating a this fake organization, so they can feel like it is all being controlled. Of course, then they are scared of it. You can see this with religion as well. They fear the power, but they fear the fact that it may not exist even more so.

There's nothing to any of it.

There's a really easy way to figure out. Is it…

1) Coincidence and happenstance that people chalk up to meaning something
2) A giant conspiracy involving apparently 2/3 of the population of Earth

Occam's Razor really does slice right through #2.

I created a thread on the Off-Topic category about the Illuminati recently, in which I said they did exist, in Bavaria. They were a secret society created in order to refute the catholicism. It was formed by scientists and philosofers which were "100% science".
This group ended in 1789 (persecuted since 1785).
But, of course, some people believe they are still here today and worse, on our governments. They may be preparing to create a New World Order (NWO).
This is wrong, because there is no proof that they are still here, nor preparing for something big, as the famous book Angels & Demons claims.
