Of course we've all heard that OBL is dead, and all that good stuff (well.. you get the point). There has been much speculation by people, myself included, that maybe the government is hiding something? I've said this a million times all ready, but I figured OBL to have been dead a LONG time ago. It's not secret that the mainstream media does use distractions to take the public's mind off things. My question is, what is it they're possibly* hiding? I don't post this thread to be a fear-monger, because I'm scared 'poopless' .. Do you think this could trigger a WWIII? Or a nuclear war? I'm scared :'(
If you truly want to create a conspiracy, there are equal if not better ones. Like, Osama has been dead for several years but the president withheld the information until his term was almost up so he could be re-elected.
Of course, I don't believe that.

Wait, what? Take the public's mind off things? Are we watching the same TV? Last I checked the news wasn't talking about fluffy bunnies in grassy fields, which - while not appealing to everyone - would be much more distracting than, I don't know, video footage of the aftermath of a covert Navy Seals operation to take down the head of a terrorist organization… For example…
I think it was JamesJJlm who just said it in the other thread, it's an insanely easy time to create a conspiracy where there isn't one - some things really are as simple as "bad guy got shot by good guys".
I don't see how it could trigger a world war when the vast majority of the world was united against a common enemy.
I don't see how it could create nuclear war when some of the last terrorist attacks I recall involved one terrorist being burned alive while being kicked in the nuts by an angry scotsman, and another who failed to set his own underwear explosives off.
I frankly don't see much of a difference on the terrorism front, there will still be the added security, there will still be the background whispers of threats, and there will of course still be a bucketload of conspiracy theorists going absolutely mad for it all.
Think logically here, what do you think the government would hide with the death of a terrorist leader? His death may well have de-stabilized the region but it is most likely not going to herald a nuclear war when you bear in mind that a lot of Arab people and countries in and around the middle east have not committed themselves to cries of outrage whatsoever. This would mean that only the Al Qaeda would be behind an attack. Whilst they are a very cleverly constructed group, I do not think they are truly capable of anything other than attempted smaller scale terrorist attacks that will almost certainly fall flat in the face of the massive amounts of security employed to protect targeted countries.
Basically, don't worry :)
If he is dead then… the leader would have been taken off. Normally, institutions do start failing if their leader is gone. But we also have to take into account that the government needs to be extra careful about this. I have a feeling that there might be more terrorist attacks or something because the Al-Qaeda might not know what else to do. Also, we have to take into account that they might have chosen a new leader before he died.
Our fears are more numerous than our dangers, and we suffer more in our imagination than in reality.
