I guess this goes in off topic on account of the fact it isn't really a question or worry but more of a general irritation by many people.
Basically, you have to be absolutely fed up when people's evidence for apocalyptic events is that 'humanity is terrible (feel free to paraphrase)' or 'humanity is failing (again, feel free to change those words to whatever you've read before'
It seems that people who follow this line of thought are just plain ignorant. If one looks at the past, they will only really hear about the great men of the species (Archimedes, Galileo, Newton - to name a few). The fact is that humanity is as strong today as it's ever been. You only need to look at people in the recent world such as Hawking or the deceased Einstein aswell as the several minds fronting leading scientific experiments around the globe (forgive me for not researching enough to name these people but this sort of leads to my next point). The fact is that history only truly remembers the greatest of men when years later they become recognised and their ideas become concrete.
When people today suggest that humanity has lost it's touch, needs saving, is doomed to die or whatever, it's a somewhat ironic shame that the people spouting this nonsense are the people who are in real need of saving or cleansing. You can almost fully guarantee that in 100 years time people will look back on the great men of our age and marvel at how they achieved what they did (how someone can argue humanity is failing when one man comes up with the theory of relativity and more or less discovers the blueprints needed to unlok the universe is completely beyond me)
Anyway, just thought I'd have a short rant and this seemed the most logical place to do so seeming as people creating hoaxes use this logic a lot. Maybe it'll help someone, I don't know.
Good job with the site guys!
