Okay, I started to look up more information about the 2012 magnetic ribbon idea. I've done some more non-2012 related articles about this ribbon at the edge of our galaxy and the results are a bit terrifying. There's a website that provides and article about the "Local Fluff" and they say that the interaction it's having with our heliosphere completely throws scientists off and that it totally debunks 40 years of theory. Even NASA says that the Fluff is highly magnetized and that it's having a pretty big effect on our heliosphere. http://science.nasa.gov/science-news/science-at-nasa/2009/23dec_voyager/ I remember making that post about the 2012 Equation Solved video way back. Some of the people here on the sight were saying that it wasn't highly magnetized at all. I'm starting to think that it's not so harmless. :( Time will tell I guess, but I'd like to see what you guys think.

I really don't know what your problem is. Anything in the interstellar medium is going to have an effect on the heliosphere. That doesn't translate to affecting Earth, let alone affecting Earth significantly or negatively.

No recent findings "debunk" anything. That is entirely your word. What we have learned is that existing models aren't accurate, so we update the models. That's what science does. Anything going on out there has been going on for billions of years. It doesn't suddenly become dangerous just because we find out about it. Moreover, if we had thought we already knew everything about the outer Solar System and interstellar medium, we wouldn't have needed to launch IBEX in the first place.

You completely misunderstand. That simply refers to space beyond the heliosphere where the Sun's influence, by definition, wanes. It isn't some new or mysterious discovery. You're just picking words out of articles and doing your darnedest to freak out over them, without even knowing what is actually being said.

Nobody told you any such thing. Elliott tried to put it in perspective for you by explaining the concept of density, heat and force in space, but you apparently either didn't notice, didn't understand, or didn't care.

I'm starting to think that it's not so harmless. :( Time will tell I guess, but I'd like to see what you guys think.

I only told you what Nasa tells you in the article. Let me show you again.

A portion of that pressure is magnetic and corresponds to the ~5 microgauss Opher's team has reported in Nature.

*What is a microgauss? — A microgauss is one millionth of a gauss, a unit of magnetic field strength popular among astronomers and geophysicists. Earth's magnetic field is about 0.5 gauss or 500,000 microgauss.

So now you have a comparison of how magnetic this cloud is. More comparisons here.

If our Voyager's electronics are still working, than I am not sure what you are worried about?
