This is (in all probablity) a story from a couple of months ago where a mother slit her daughters' throats and then her own in order to save them from the Tribulation. I've seen a website where, in typical journalistic style, the event is made to seem as if it has just happened. The report was dated 21st May and claims the incident took place "early Friday evening". You're meant to assume that it was Friday 20th May, when it was actually Friday 18th March, as you can read here.
The children survived without serious injury and the woman was arrested.
This seems to have been a case of a mentally disturbed woman who may well have harmed her children anyway on the flimsiest of excuses.

My opinion is unchanged. What reliable news source does this come from and on what date did this alleged incident happen? The author just may be trying to imply that this is recent so that it can be linked to Camping.

I guess I just don't understand. Your response was in response to a claim about CNN, and I understand, it's not from CNN, originally. I don't understand the tie in to some re-reporting common to the internet. Or was that not part of the direct response?

I'm just wary (which comes from regularly debunking claims) of making connections where there isn't one. This link has a sentence about a woman attacking her daughters underneath a headline about Camping with the implication that the two are connected. Without any details given about the woman and her daughters and knowing about a similar incident having taken place in March, I would question whether the author is deliberately trying to mislead his readers or has just misunderstood something he's copied from elsewhere.
These are the sort of things which circulate round and round the internet and end up with people putting two and two together and making five. So until I see a reliable report about the woman and her daughters which says it happened this weekend, I won't assume that it has.
I'm seeing two issues, then: content and timing.
As for content, it's clear that the issue is linked*, as seen from the short text version on the KTLA website:
A woman slit her daughters' throats before slitting her own early Friday evening, claiming that "the Tribulation" was going to occur and she wanted to prevent them from suffering through it, officials said.
As for timing, the website you are talking about does make it look like it happened in May. I have to admit I was fooled, I focused on the number and missed the month, myself. I'm going to hazard a guess the reason it is getting play now is people are actively looking for such stories.
So, assuming the KTLA version is accurate, what happened? Did we just see a woman who didn't wait until only a few days until 'the end' to do something out of fear of the Camping prediction?
*I'm assuming direct reading from KTLA is considered a respectable source for this, in retrospect. Also assumed, is 'The Tribulation' is a reference to Camping.

I've no problem with KTLA as an accurate source.
The Tribulation is a fundamentalist belief and not necessarily linked to Camping. I don't think I've come across him mentioning it as such, although what he was claiming would occur would be perceived in that way by some people. So the woman concerned may well have had some general fear of the Tribulation anyway or she may have been sparked off by Camping, but two months early.
We'll probably never know.

I didn't think to question it when they said it was reported on CNN. I'm so glad the kids are OK. Of course she still did it for the same reason, just 2 months early.

We don't know for sure. Camping probably is in his underground bunker, crying, and asking God why didn't He end with the world yesterday. His followers, of course, want their money back, and they are not very happy.

It is very sad. Even if I had believed him, I would never do such thing. The question "what if" would have been on my mind before selling off everything etc. I truly wonder if he has the courage to stand up in front of all the people and admit that he had made an error or what. I am curious about his reaction, but he seems to be in hidding.
Oh on a side note….yesterday exactly at 1 p.m. (we live in Ontario) our doorbell rang. My husband went to answer it, and guess what some Jehova's were roaming about our neighboorhood distributing their leaflets etc. My husband told them that we were not interested. But honestly I had to laugh! Isn't it a bit absurd? I mean the world was supposed to end (according to HC at least) and some Jehova's think that this would be the day to take some action, too.

You know what, this is what I have been thinking. That he would go hidding, and then some people will think that he was raptured. The one and only person that made it to heaven. No, I am not gonna buy into that.
