Recently, I've been frightened by severe thunderstorm warnings and watches. Could severe weather be a sign of 2012? Or not?

No, it's no sign of anything, just normal spring/summer weather. Weather like this happens every year and don't say, well its above 'average,' there is no average in weather. We have just recently been able to recognize and understand weather patters. By recently I mean since the 50's at the earliest.
Could severe weather be a sign of 2012? Or not?
Not. Weather is a localised event, I fail to see how bad weather stretched over a specific area of the world can be a sign of doomsday. I live in a relatively cold country, even in summer, and there is absolutely nothing unusual about the weather here. Some days it's sunny, most days it's rainy.
You have my sympathies if you live in an area affected by severe weather, but worrying over a fake doomsday is a waste of energy.
The great thing about science is, it's true whether you believe in it or not.

In a word: No, it couldn't. The weather is a natural thing. We always had rains, floodings, droughts, hurricanes, and these phenomena happen since millions of years ago. How do you expect that, just because of a hoax, the weather will become anomalous?
What the meteorologists do is to try warning you about the thunderstorms. If we can't tell them to stop, we should at least be prepared for them, when they come.
But you do should worry about the global worming. This is the real deal. But, eh, if you want to discuss this somewhere (which I think it's unquestionable), go to "off-topic", please.
There is no such thing as a "sign of 2012." We have severe thunderstorms every year, mostly in the spring and summer. The weather is doing what it has always done. Sometimes it's nice and sometimes it isn't.

Think of server weather like thunder storm or worst as a radiator.These storm are there to cool our planet not to kill our planet our use. Yes they are servere at time but that happen in area that are hot and humide.
This is no sign of doomsday but a sign of mother nature playing her role!
