Ok so I just got my tickets delivered for my favourite music festival. It's called T in the park, it's huge here in Scotland. I love music and going to festivals is something I love to do. Getting my tickets delivered put me in the mood for music, so just for the hell of it, does anyone else go to festivals and what kind of music are you in to? Mine is indie and hip hop, weird combination I know but there it is.

I usually go to Warped Tour during the summer, assuming the line-up is good, but it's all crappy stuff this year. There's only one band I wanted to see, which I'm NOT paying $40 for. I go to the Mayhem Festival every year, it's been going on for about.. three years I believe - definitely my taste :D I'm into metal, thrash, grunge, just basically all those types - favorite band is Metallica, by far. I like some indie, but not much, not a fan of hip hop at all, but everyone's got their taste :)

New hip hop is awful, I like the older stuff. I liked it as a kid and I guess I just enjoy hearing it now and again, I don't walk around with a huge chain on or anything like that. I don't get grunge or metal, I don't know anyone who likes it but it seems to be more popular in the U.S. My favourite group of all time is a group called Blur, I'd be surprised if you've heard of them but I could listen to their greatest hits album all day.

I agree completely. Haha, I was raised with metal.. I know who Blur is, I like them, from what I've heard! I like their 'song 2' but that's probably because it's really the only one I've listened to. I have a WIDE variety of music I like, but I prefer metal over everything. \m/ hahaha

does anyone else go to festivals and what kind of music are you in to?

I used to play live para-professionally, but other than that I've never really been the show-going type.

I enjoy a wide range of music: bluegrass, traditional Irish, Appalachian folk, classical, various types of rock, metal, trance and pop. The only styles that I almost exclusively despise are country-western and jazz.

She hasn't been around lately, but UndeadxNurse is a regular festival-goer. Somewhere there's a thread she started along these lines.

She sounds like someone I'd get along with, ha. I wish I could play an instrument, sadly it's not my forte - drawing is where I excel. My first concert was Megadeth, I was 14 or 15 I believe - it was horrible, I couldn't see a thing, I'm not even 5' and getting to the front of the crowd was out of the question. I enjoyed it though! Juju, I too despise Jazz -_-

I am also into metal, but mostly power, doom, and black metal. My favorite bands are My Dying Bride and Rhapsody and if your into metal but have not heard them, I highly recommend.

I do not go to festivals but my hubby will be going to a metal fest in July where he will play with his band Nailed Shut, which I also highly recommend ;-)

Haha Im going to T in the Park too! Are you going for the whole weekend?
Im just going on the Sunday to see the Foo Fighters. It will be my fourth time at T in the Park lol

Yes, full weekend camping there. I just bought my tent on Saturday, it's huge. I couldn't go for just one day, I wouldn't want to leave, but after 3 days there you kind of can't drink anymore alcohol without risking serious liver damage, lol. Foo fighters aren't really my cup of tea but I'v been told they're awesome live so I might go to see them.

I have been every year since 2006, it never appealed to me before then, but I fell in love with it the first time I went. It's probably my favourite time of the year. I'm sure you'll enjoy it, I know I will.

yeah I have been to the 06,07,08 festivals. I didnt enjoy myself the 3rd time. Also the camping tickets are a complete rip off, so I decided I'd only go back if the lineup was too good to say no to.

I love FFDP! They f'n rock. They do some badass shows in Iraq and Afghanistan for the troops, and I would honestly go there if I could afford it. Of course they do concerts state-side as well. Some of the above links are NSFW I'm sure, as they cuss in their songs.

Trista I love black and power metal. I've heard of My Dying Bride, they're pretty good. Diesel - I love FFDP! Love 'War is the answer' very impressed with that album. I saw them at the first Mayhem Festival - they were awesome, if I'm not mistaken I think I saw them again last year. So many people on the Mayhem line-up I forget. I love In This Moment as well, chick screamers are my favorite. Saw them with Megadeth, as well at Warped Tour. <3 I saw Marilyn Manson about two years ago - I fell in love twice. Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie, and Slipknot have put on THE BEST shows I've ever seen.

Slipknot just might be the best live band ever, at least in terms of rock and metal. They are unbelievably precise. What they record is what they play on stage, to the note. It's amazing to watch.

Diesel, FFDP is great too, but my favorite song of theirs is actually the slow one, "Far from Home."

Are slipknot the guys in masks who sound like they are really pissed off all the time? I honestly haven't heard of most of these groups mentioned, I think there's one tiny club where I live that plays that kind of music. To sum it up the headline acts at the festival I'm going to are coldplay and beyonce. Lol.

Coldplay and Beyonce? Yeaaaa, definitely don't listen to them haha! Yes, Gary they are the guys in masks who sound like they're really pissed off all the time, hahaha. Their drummer is amazing. They sound exactly like they do on their record, in person, it's great.

Yeah, I've gotten that more than a few times, and I can at least acknowledge how someone might easily form that opinion. If my introduction to Avril had been "Girlfriend" instead of "Losing Grip," history might have unfolded differently.

Avril Lavigne was actually good back in the day, well her first album was - the stuff she's putting out now is completely different. She used to be the type of girl that didn't care, now she's like.. a snobby b-tch who's trying to put on the 'tough girl' act lol.

I do not go to music festivals… I live very close to Manchester, TN when Bonaroo is going on and I stay the heck away from that town like the plague! ;)

My first concert was King Crimson when I was 12. I have also seen Porcupine Tree, Rush, and the Brian Setzer Orchestra. I have seen King Crimson and Porcupine Tree a few times.

Concerts are not really my thing… I don't like being in large crowds like that especially for rock bands. I prefer being with a very small crowd to hear bluegrass and country, such as a restaurant, bonfire, or other community gathering…

As for non-musical festivals I adore the Moon Pie & RC Cola Festival in Bell Buckle, TN… Also the crafters festival in the same town. Gotta do the BBQ Festival in Lynchburg, TN (Jack Daniels) and the occasional tractor pull is a lot of fun!!!

I like alternative rock bands. But my favorite ones don't come to my city, when they come to Brazil, they go to Rio but that's not my city. Example: U2. I like their songs a lot, and every time I listen to music I put some U2.

Rita you remind me of my Aunt, she lives in MS and all they do is sit around a campfire and listen to country.. as well as partake in other things, but you get the point! I don't like 'large crowds' just because I have extreme social anxiety, but I love concerts. I hate mosh pits, with an absolute passion, and for some reason, they ALWAYS without a doubt, start right next to me! I have to have my brother and boyfriend stand infront of me during shows because otherwise, my butt will fall on the ground and get trampled lol.

Non music.. We have a seafood festival here every year - happens when you live next to the Chesapeake Bay. My boyfriend's parents took us to a peanut festival one year.. it was fun.. lots of peanuts… lol

I'm going to Reading/Leeds in August. Muse is playing their entire "Origin of Symmetry" album. I can't wait!
Peter Doherty (I am a huge Libertines fan) will also be performing. I just hope he can lay off the drugs and give a good performance. He is such a talented singer/songwriter.

I bought one of the babyshambles albums, down in Albion I think it's called. I agree docherty is talented, but the guys an absolute mess with drugs and he really seems to try his hardest to fall off the wagon as much as he can. Iv never been to reading and Leeds, I'v heard good things about it and I'd love to try it one year.

Ok Im back from T…. My legs hurt, Im covered in mud and I dont think I'll be able to walk again for a while. However the Foo Fighters made it all worth while:P

Loved it, can't remember much about it to be honest. Foo fighters were awesome, I think they might have a new fan. Artic monkeys tore the roof off on Friday and chase & status were outstanding on satuarday. The weather wasn't as bad as everyone predicted it would be so that was a bonus. I swear that if I see another glass of cider I'll hurl, I don't think I've ever drank so much in one weekend. Gutted I need to wait another year for the next one. Oh well, back to normality :(
This was the highlight for me.
