It was i think made in 2008 , and was about scary weird tornadoes and lightning in new york , and global warming , I dont know the title since it was t.v

Anyways it got me thinking but i want to know the title.

I'll have to look through my disaster movies. It seems that I remember something like that. I have a couple of DVD's with 4 cheesy disaster movies on each one, so I might have it.

You are probably referring to the cheesy made for tv movie NYC: Tornado Terror . It was a movie that first aired on the Syfy channel in 08'.

Mayor Leonardo of New York initially refuses to pay proper attention to the phenomenon, a 'reelection threat', so the alert status remains too low for long. Atypical lightning discovered inside tornadoes adds unprecedented dangers. The Lawrences and aeronautics renegade Dr. Lars Liggenhorn conceive a possible solution by launching rockets, but NASA's Dr. Quinn overrules them, imposing standard silver iodine.

No. A "split in the atmosphere" can't happen. This is a simplified explanation but tornadoes occur when a warm front meets a cold front, causing a thunderstorm and causing the air to start spinning horizontally in the lower atmosphere. Updrafts push this rotating air into a vertical position. Tornadoes form from the rotating column of air. So, as you can see, even if a "split in the atmosphere" could happen, it couldn't form tornadoes.

Silver iodide is sometimes used to seed clouds to try to cause rain. In the 1960's, there was an attempt to modify hurricanes using cloud seeding, but it wasn't successful.

I haven't found anything about using it on tornadoes or any rationale on how that would be expected to work.

Well, if the tornadoes made people freeze to death, you can comfort yourself with the knowledge that it was a REALLY sucky movie.
BTW, I was writing a post an hour ago when the tornado siren started blowing. I had to take my little dogs, lantern, phone, and water and go sit in my hallway for a half hour. What fun! No tornado, though.

That really sounds like The Day After Tomorrow, yet another one from Roland Emmerich. It involved "super storms" that brought a sudden ice age to the northern hemisphere. People didn't hide in the Empire State Building though, they hid in a library. Dennis Quaid was in that movie.

But yeah, the "science" in the movie absolutely sucks.

The tornadoes in The Day After Tomorrow didn't freeze anyone to death. It sounds like that movie, but no, I don't think it is what Awesomeee saw. Also, he told us that on the movie they had to hide inside the Empire States Building.

The NY Public Library. He might have confused the library with the Empire States, because they are close to each other.

The day after tomorrow, it has to be. Remember the scene were the helicopter freezes mid flight (in scotland as well, but this isnt so unusual here) in the eye of the storm?

in day after tomorrow they hide in a house but it is not empire state building i think , it coming 3 guys in a expedition to save the people who hidding in the building

The tornadoes in The Day After Tomorrow didn't freeze anyone to death.

But in the movie there were these "cold spots" or something that did exactly that - flash-freezed people and buildings extremely fast.

Maybe the movie Awesomeee saw was one of those cheap copies that try to cash in on box office hits?
