I hear the Aztec calendar ends in 2027 or 2026 does this mean the world will end? If anyone who knows aztec culture or has any knowledge of the aztec calender can you please share your views and ideas.
The Aztecs believed that they were in the fifth sun and like all of the suns before them they would also eventually perish due to their own imperfections. Every fifty two years was marked out because they believed that fifty two years was a life cycle and at the end of any given life cycle the gods could take away all that they have and destroy the world.
So do you believe the world has ended every 52 years?

Aztecs were a very warrior-like culture. They weren't as interested in science and learning as their preceding culture was. So every 52 years, they would celebrate that their Gods allowed them to live another 52 year cycle. So this calendar was probably passed down from the Maya culture, and was given a different meaning. If you've ever played the game "telephone" you can probably understand how meanings of things can get mixed up as they get passed down through the ages.
Really? what was their preceding culture?
I was referring to the Maya. Although I doubt they were the only culture to eventually become part of the Aztecs.
actually, the Aztec and Maya were separate cultures, that inherited a lot of common beliefs from a prior culture (probably the Olmecs). After the 'classic' period, when he Maya culture was at its greatest extent, the Maya lived within the Aztec culture as small cultural enclaves. All of this happened before the Europeans arrived.

oh i see. so thats why all the cultures have similar beliefs
though it seems the maya had a more complex and longer calendar
The Maya seemed to be more interested in education type things and time keeping whereas the Aztecs were more warrior like.

ahh thank you all. for your comments. ive heard about it being every 52 years. this is about their religion, not scientific fact. they also believe that there have been four past worlds all ended by different things. one went by a flood. one by jaguars eating everyone. and one by a volcano and the the current sopposedly is by an earthquake. first of all these are clearly not real. since we know the earth is billions of years old and none of these things have been documented
Good Job Eric!
