I found this comment regarding the red dots in California:

Uh…and being an avid user of the program she's playing with, let me let you in on a little tid bit of information. Each of those red dots ARE NOT earthquakes. They are seismographs. If you use the program, you can click on the red dot and you will see a DATE. All of those red dots are the seismograph information from the day of the major earthquake, JUST ONE EARTHQUAKE, and the associated aftershocks from the following days. It's one incident, hundreds of seismographs registering it.

We also know that black spots on Google sky don't mean anything.
