I find it funny that people are so concerned with the world ending with all the crap out there that has no scientific validity. No one seems to care that there is a huge US debt crisis going on and America can default of their loans or be downgraded from their AAA bond ratings. No one seems to care that world economies are crashing already like Spain, Greece, and Ireland. How America is racking up so much debt per year, that is actually almost at the U.S. GDP and about to climb higher by the end of 2011. How global markets in Europe and Asia will be affected by this. Yes if you live outside of the U.S., and you think you are safe from a global meltdown; you need to get a crash course in Macro Economics.

I just find it funny that here and all over the internet everyone is more concerned with ridiculous arguments pertaining to a comet and other claims of the world ending to be of more concern, than something that is real, happening right now, and is right front of your face. At the rate of our borrowing per GDP we will be defaulting by the end of next year if not sooner.

So here is a prediction for you. The closest the world will end is by global meltdown of the U.S. not able to pay its bills and global markets crashing because of it will create chaos around the globe. Food shortages will happen because of import/export issues, stock markets around the globe crashing and gold and silver rallying, because global currencies are crashing. People don't understand how many countries are tied up in our debt by investing in our treasury bonds over the years. If the United States crashes, so does Europe, Japan, and China, and maybe some other major countries. You think the Eurozone has a problem now, how do you think they fund their debt? By making money off our interest of United States treasury bonds.

If you think this is all false information and just fear-mongering, you better think again. Go read the news, it's right there and has been happening for the past 10 years. Economists have predicted this outcome if America stays on the same track it's on since 2006. So when you are all worried about the world ending because of a comet or w/e else crap people make up. You better look at what's happening today, because who cares about the tiny comet that wouldn't do anything anyways if it hit the Earth tomorrow.

exactly, you can thank the rothschilds for playing in to our greed/vulnerability. When you think of what they have done it really isn't all that hard. Give American's (superpower of world) all huge mortgages that they can't pay off with low interest, then sell their manufacturing database to china and other communist super-populated countries taking away all our jobs. All in the name of getting rich and being a superpowered individuals. Now just sit back and watch it all unfold in the comfort of their underground bunkers built courtesy of the u.s. taxpayer.

Forbes has them listed at net worth 1.5 billion.

I find it funny someone needs to resort to borderline racism to end their point, or am I just grouchy from lack of sleep and missed said point? Is that even racism these days or just discrimination?

I am getting rather off topic here which is one of the boards this thread should be on, the other being Misc, if we're not directly dealing with an end of the world ramble in 2012. We'll see how it develops a bit before deciding I guess.

And if you're interested in what I have to say on the matter, don't be. Economics, Politics, stuff like that evokes such a level of boredom that I don't bother with them. Perhaps it's that blissful ignorance that allows me and many others to focus attention elsewhere, either through interest or fear.

sorry 3MWE, I'm not sure what to call it but it is a bit discrminatory, just my interpetation tho -

and as far as boredom you shouldn't be so naive, these people and their policies determin how food makes it to your mouth, unless ofcourse you have your own farm, but i consider that unlikely in this day/age.

I don't think thats the right way of looking at it - on a technicality, the Sun determines how food makes it to my mouth, not the local Government I know nothing about. They might be an intermediate step somewhere along the line, but I'm not connecting the dots between my choosing not to be eligible to vote, for example, to eventually finding myself starving. I cannot see that my vote counts for my food intake.

The issue raised in this thread as a whole seems like a case of immediacy, if that's the right word. If the real problem is people in power, you wait a few years and don't vote them in next time. Maybe you rally in support of a cause, protest at another, whatever, the point is the 'danger' of the situation is off in the distance somewhere, it's not threatening in the present - starvation itself is threatening, but the vague possibility of it in distant years isn't.

Enter the idea of doomsday though and suddenly it calls for immediate action, people want to know the details because they see it as a direct immediate threat to their well-being, a tangible cause for concern whether it has basis in reality or not.

Hopefully thats got the point across, or a point across at least.

Oh, yay, another "NWO" tool. Scared, you probably would not be so scared if you learned a little about how the world works. It isn't all pretty and honest, but neither is it quite as nefarious as conspiracy websites would have you believe.

Paradox, some of what you note is accurate, but you left out the part about this debt business all being over next year's election.

The racism Elliott refers to is Scared's remark: "…all these superpowers come back to being german jewish origin." It's pointless to even mention that, unless he/she has a problem the German Jews for some reason.

I didn't see the "German Jews" part, so I thought he was talking about what I said. It's true about the current debt ceiling crisis being over the next election to put blame on one party to gain political power. I was talking more about the increasing debt over the past 10 years more than what has been happening the past couple of months with the debt crisis, even though that is a contributing factor to the current debt problem.

The NWO, I can careless about that. But it is true that it has been brought up and mentioned over the years since the 80's I think. One world currency and government. With note of the people that blowing it out of proportion with: Fema camps, killing 80% of the world population, prison state system, etc… Is just taking it to far. To say that someone wouldn't want complete control over the world, would be the same to say Hitler and WWII never happened. There are people that are power hungry and would want complete control over the world. Not saying this is going to happen per-say, but I wouldn't be naive and say that some people wouldn't want this type of system to feed their control issues. well if you controlled the monetary system and the energy production, it actually wouldn't be all too far off. People can think what they want, you will still be handing over money to them every day with every transaction they make, feeding their control issues. If you look at the companies these German families established, they basically control every respected legitimate regulatory system in N. America. If your learning it to be legitimate, it was thought up and approved by a member to one of their organizations(as in a University, or whatever else. I dont care for this NWO bs, as far as im concerned, we are in the New World(N.America) and the way we live is order. hence nwo

It's a problem that extends back way more than 10 years, though the preoccupation with war has certainly been the single most out-of-control budget-buster over that period.

There are people that are power hungry and would want complete control over the world. Not saying this is going to happen per-say, but I wouldn't be naive and say that some people wouldn't want this type of system to feed their control issues.

This is all entirely separate from the tool-ish "NWO" doom-saying to which I referred. Of course some people crave power, and of course they'll go to great lengths to acquire and maintain it. This isn't about the Rothschilds or Rockefellers or some nebulous conglomeration of diabolical global controllers. This is about the human race and behavior we can trace from the earliest historical records. People who hue and cry about these perceived conspiracies completely miss the point. There is no overarching conspiracy. There's just a species that has by and large developed this notion, true or false, of needing to be ruled, and there are members of this species who are willing to meet the demand. That isn't to say people in general do or should be content with these archons of their own making — I would venture to say that most aren't — but what should we expect so long as this mind-set and "market" exist?

This would also be hard for one person to do, as everyone would have to conform to that ideology, and with the vast differences of these ideologies and the world itself would make this quite difficult.

It's no easier for groups of people to accomplish this on a global level — though it's pretty easy in smaller groups (like states) — and it's one of the main reasons why I don't think NWO-ers make any sense. Unfortunately, as Scared has so wonderfully demonstrated, this brand of irrationality can have serious consequences like antisemitism and a tragic susceptibility to irrelevant trivialities and outright hooey.

I agree with your general point about 2012 distracting some people from real problems, but I still think 2012 claims need to be addressed. I also worry that some folks might see current economic problems as just another sign of [not actually] impending 2012 doom.

This is in some respects veering perilously close to the type of political exchange that Astrogeek frowns upon, so we should probably not get further into this.

I'm not the politics type. I really don't get a crap, half of the time. The only reason this worries me, is because they keep mentioning student loans being increased. Which would basically bankrupt me because I have around 125,000 dollars wrapped up in education, and I have a kid on the way. I just hope this passes, one way or another.

I am actually really scared that the upcoming market collapse is going to stress international relations and create conflict. They will be looking back on these times in the future like we do wwII and see that our policies have allowed us to royally screw ourselves over. The way things are going, 1929 looking like a cakewalk, at least everyone was semi self-sustainable and had their own farms/food production back then, this time we are not going to be that blessed

1929 wasn't a cakewalk at all. What could happen over the years if the U.S. Government doesn't fix it's budget issue isn't going to be good for anyone. I don't think people understand how important the U.S. economy is to other countries economies. I feel you on the jobs issue in the news. I find it funny all the Socialist studies show job growth is going up, when news articles are always showing job cuts. Anyone with a brain would know by the Obama Administration is full of crap, and is full of crooks and liars, and so are the people in Congress.
