At the beginning of january this year i watched stargazing live on bbc2 in the uk.to cut a long story short at the end of episode 3 something was mentioned about the night sky map they had up on the large tv they had on set,the man who mentioned it was the smallest of the three, not brian cox or the bald irish man, anyway he said that something had appeared recently and was getting brighter,i tried not to worry too much about it at the time but im getting a bit anxious about it now especially now that this specific bit of the programme isnt on it anymore i was wandering if anyone else had watched episode 3 the last one and noticed this now i dont make a big fuss unless im sure about things but genuinely im a bit worried that its been cut out for a sinister reason
I don't understand. How would something be cut out if the episode has already aired, and you've already seen it?
Anyway, you said what you saw was at the end of the episode. I just watched the last ten minutes of episode three, and all I saw involving a sky map was some discussion of a debris field in orbit around a star … ten light years away. I'm not inclined to scour the hour-long video further, so if you'd like to point out what you're referring to, here it is.
I cant because its not there anymore thanks for taking time at this time to look its just possibly been one of the many new things theyve found recently honestly im not f@@king you about and i really dont want you thinking that

Well, I found it. It's not at the end, but at around the 24:30 mark. They're talking about an object of interest (possibly a supernova in progress or other phenomenon) in Messier 82, which is another galaxy some twelve million light years from us. It's absolutely nothing of concern. On the contrary, it's fascinating. The M82 wiki article briefly mentions this object.
So many people with cosmophobia it so sad. Space is such a woderfull creation of nature don't be scared of sir!!!
This was actually a pretty good series, I had it recorded on my sky plus and watched all 3 of them a lot, until my daughter decided to delete them to record Hannah freaking Montana! I can't quiet remember which episode it's in, but Brian Cox briefly mentions the whole 2012 crap and says "the Maya knew nothing, they were hopeless" when talking about planetary alignments. Come on sammy, that programme was for educational purposes, it was about encouraging people to take up astronomy, and it was not in the least bit scary.
The great thing about science is, it's true whether you believe in it or not.
i know gary its not even about 2012 it never has been i know its mince its the reality of space and the fear of what can appear at any time seriously i am trying but what is in front of my eyes really sometimes scares me but i also think its amazing i think because im scared to do astronomy stuff again it is the not knowing so as i say i will in time get back into it when im confident enough
Great juju thanks
Brian Cox pulls no punches in berating the 2012 nonsense. http://www.2012hoax.org/brian-cox#toc1
I loved the youtube video of him talking about 2012 while he was driving. He seems so young, yet he is brilliant. I found the video I was talking about and posted it below.
