can anyone explain to me how close jupiter is ,i had a look and it is mighty bright and clear
can anyone explain to me how close jupiter is
On the 29th October Jupiter will be at opposition, the point where earth passes between the sun and Jupiter. At this point earth is at it's closest to Jupiter, which is 628,743,036 million km. So at this moment earth is roughly that distance from Jupiter. I've got a great view of it right now, it's very very bright I must say.
sorry is saturn very close too
Saturn isn't visible from your location right now, so you won't be looking at that.
The great thing about science is, it's true whether you believe in it or not.
i have just realised how lazy that was i went to astronomynow.com thanks god im such an idiot can yous delete this then please thanks
Well, according to this website, Jupiter is at a distance of 3.970 AU, while Saturn is at a distance of 10.645 AU (even though it shouldn't be visible to you right now).
this is very silly of me to say but i was watching the news earlier and noticed a great big star at the left of the reporter who is in london so i put my glasses on and got close to my telly which is a 52 inch shows you how blind i am and it looked like saturn with ring and all it was like you didnt need a telescope,i thought it was jupiter that was extremely bright
Even if Saturn were naked eye visible right now, you wouldn't see the rings without a scope or binoculars. Anything like that on camera would probably have been caused by a lens flare.

thanks gary dont know what it was then enjoy the rest of your night
