Hi guys! I'm new to this site, and I just wanted to ask some questions about asteroid yu55 and 11/11/11
1. In comparison to Earth, how big is asteroid yu55?
2. If asteroid yu55 hits the earth, how much of it will it destroy?
3. Is it possible that Earth's gravitational pull will be strong enough to pull asteroid yu55 in?
4. What is supposed to happen on 11/11/11?

Hi acealex,
Asteroid 2005 YU55 is only 400 meters. The Earth is 12,756 kilometers in diameter. That makes YU55 0.00000313 the diameter of Earth.

It won't hit Earth, but at its small size, it would do only regional damage if it did.

No, Earth's gravitational pull can't pull YU55 in. It will pass 201,810 miles away.

Also, nothing out of the ordinary will happen on 11/11/11. It's comparable to any other day/month/year where the digits all match up. It's numerological nonsense.

Keep in mind that the actual date is 11/11/2011. Now, if anything were going to happen, surely the date 11/11/1111 would have made more sense. Numerology is completely meaningless, we invented the concept of dates and times, there's just no way it can have any sort of cosmic significance.

Yup. I was at home when everything started to collapse around me. When I went outside, everything was on fire and thousands of asteroids were colliding. I saw people screaming and animals running.
Then I woke up.

I wonder why it didn't end on 7/7/7, 8/8/8, 9/9/9, or 10/10/10? Why 11/11/11? I guess it's just that there are so many doomsdays this year that we might as well throw in one more for good measure.

That is quite literally the only significance 11/11/2011 holds for me.

I suspect the Oblivion player base will remain alive for a while to come, even if it's significantly smaller. People still play Morrowind, after all.
