A 7.3. quake just struck off the coast of Sumatra and I'm pretty scared. Only 10 days into the new year and we've already had a 6.6, a 6.8, and now a 7.3. People are freaking out, yelling repent, 2012 is real, the end of days are upon us, and other things.

How do we know that something big isn't cooking or those Bible-thumpers may be right this time.

Can anyone help?

Okay, I'm better now thanks to bible.ca.

From now on, whenever I hear about a big disaster like this, I will never look at the comments on a news site because I'll just scare myself even more.

All in regions where quakes of that magnitude are expected, of course.

You are absolutely right, though.

"In diverse places" would mean places where we don't expect. If it hit Oklahoma or some other place, I would really be scared.

It is no fun if you live in that disaster area.
But bible thumpers is just people crying wolf (repent) even if they see a mosquito. These can not be taken seriously.

There are earthquakes in unlikely places every single day. We live on a geologically active planet.

If it hit Oklahoma or some other place, I would really be scared.

Oklahoma, on average, experiences dozens of earthquakes per year.

On average, the world can expect a M6.0+ quake every few days.

Because earthquakes happen, they are normal! Bible-thumpers? I'd like to thump them over the head with their freaking bibles. Stop looking for things that scare you.

The first thing you need to do is come to terms with the fact that planet earth is not some giant ball of sleepy space rock. It's active, geologically active, which makes earthquakes, volcanos and tsunami's inevitable. If you can't get a handle on that then you're going to spend the rest of your life in fear, because you can be certain that in your short time on this planet, it will remain as active as it is now. Please don't fall for these so called "bible bashers" either. These people are as nutty as any random doomsayer, but they think that if they use the bible to back their claims, it gives them more credence. It reeks of desperation and pseudo-religious horse manure. Ignore these people.

I give you a big clue.
When people write all capital letters or use the word repent in any posts then you automatically know it cannot be true.
These people are so wound up in their religion that they cannot separate reality from fiction any-more. They actually lost touch to their own religion.

If you want a large earthquake, go there. What happens to be there other than large earthquakes? Indonesia.

I would like to make a prediction. I predict that when the next magnitude 7+ earthquake occurs (we can expect more than one per month, on average) people will be freaking out, yelling repent, 2012 is real, the end of days are upon us, and other things.

You should take notice of me because I'm 100% correct on my earthquake predictions. Predicting the reactions of doomsday nutcases and bible thumpers to earthquakes is probably easier, in fact.
