A news story on the National Geographic website announces the discovery of an "Unprecedented" Maya mural that dates back to about 813 or 814 AD, a period where the Maya empire was in decline, and under pressure from economic and environmental issues. Contrary to the modern, western myth of a 'doomsday' or 'end of time' in 2012, the mural contains glyphs which reference dates 7,000 years in the future.
You can read the account of the discovery at National Geographic Magazine on-line.
