In the last week, I've moved probably about a dozen threads from Comments to Miscellaneous. Please read below the description of each thread and place your posting in the correct one. Note that threads entitled The Weather, John Dee, Bible Thumpers and Strange Sounds are not dealt with on the site and should not go in the Comments section.
Don't put everything straight into Comments. Think about it first.

Comments
This is where you can leave comments about the site.

Per page discussions
This category groups discussions related to particular pages within this site.

Debate
This is the place to debate 2012 topics.

Stories
Stories about dealing with 2012 doomsday rumors.

Miscellaneous
2012-related topics that don't fit in the above categories. If you're not sure where it should be posted, try here.

Off Topic
Anything goes (within reason). This is where you can discuss the things that are not related to 2012.

wow, i never knew that the comments page was for comments about the site. I just figured out some of my post were put in the miscellaneous section because they dealt with the cosmos. So new post should go in the debate page

Going to expand and sticky this:

While we're at it folks, I find a lot of threads that run near identically to older threads, so search the forums first or, if you're aware of a similar thread already exists, point new posters to that thread via a link.

It's much easier to read and refer to one or two threads about newly discovered planets, for example, than it is for people to have to wade through someones plans for Christmas and comments about unrelated proponents. Of course there will be times when a new thread is appropriate, so when that happens let's stay on topic, whatever that topic may be (and on the relevant board, remember).

We may well be getting busy these next few weeks, and I for one don't want to have to go through all the new posts and miss an important one caught up in the rabble.
