I’m 18 years and about to graduate in the coming spring. I suffer from really bad anxiety attacks; I’ve had them since I was a kid. I don’t know what to do, every time someone mentions December 21st (1 day after my birthday) I have extremely bad anxiety attacks to the point where I have passed out. I’m honestly sick and tired of hearing this, I know that people keep misinterpreting the Mayan long count calendar, but then they say that they found a codex or something of some sorts that reveals the end of days to be between December 21-23. Someone please shed some light on this, I can’t handle any more anxiety attacks like I’ve been having lately.

This is a lie. There are codexes, but they do not depict the end of the end of the world, and they certainly didn't cite our gregorian dates. I assume you're talking about the Dresden codex. It contains what they knew about astronomy.. The moon phases and charts of Venus, instructions for ceremonies, and on the last page there's a figure pouring water from a vase. This is not flood imagery, it's either an image of birth, or something to do with the rain god.

This raises another question to me, a few nights ago. i believe Monday night if I'm not mistaken National Geographic had a two night special about the 2012 doomsday. It said that they interviewed some Mayans and they believed it was the end of the world, this worries me when the Mayans even say it is and by Mayans i mean like 2 people who could most likely be posing as Mayans and not really be. Also recently the government came out and said the world isn't ending Dec 21st., which made me have a anxiety attack because the government is always lying and hiding stuff from us. Also my final question, There's a show I believe its called Jesse Ventura Conspiracy Theory ( think it comes on TruTv) and he asked about some 2012 stuff is any of it true? he said the government is building under ground passage ways across the U.S. that has bunkers or something.

Well, Jesse Ventura never met a conspiracy theory he didn't like. None of it is true. They aren't building bunkers.

The vast majority of Mayan descendants consider the whole 2012 thing ridiculous. They have made it very clear that this did not originate with them, but was all invented by "westerners." There are a few people claiming to be Mayan, who have started cashing in on the big hoax. You will have people of differing opinions in any culture, and you'll also always have some who will join in the scam.

There is an interesting thing going on in recent years, people who are convinced that "the government," whichever government that might be out of the 195 governments worldwide, is lying and hiding things from us. Well, all governments have some state secrets. They can't just let their state secrets spread around the world. That being said, they couldn't possibly hide things like the ridiculous doomsday scenarios. There are too many astronomers worldwide who don't work for any government and would not keep their discoveries secret. The government is basically damned if they do and damned if they don't. When they were ignoring the hoax, the conspiracy nuts were saying, "Why isn't the government saying anything? What are they hiding?" When they made a statement, it became "Why is the government saying this? They must be covering it up."

The Maya never made any end of the world prediction, not in their long count calendar, the Dresden Codex, nor the Tortuguero monument. They have, however, mentioned a celebration that is to take place in what corresponds to our year 4772. That certainly shows that they didn't expect the world to end in 2012. Mainly what i don't understand is why radio,news,TV etc are still broadcasting stuff on the subject when its false. My little sisters were watching TV and something about it came on the History Channel and they started crying. Now i try to just not think about it, It reminds of Y2K thing back in 2000 ( i can honestly remember that far lol) and i remember people freaking out about it but me being just a kid didnt have a care in the world because i didn't understand that people die etc. But now people keep proposing that the world is going to end, honestly i just have a TON of questions to ask lol just hoping you guys can help me cope with the matter.

The broadcast this stuff because fear sells. If it bleeds, it leads. Believe it or not, there is no requirement that they can only broadcast the truth.

What about the doomsday preppers (those dudes on national geographic), why are they planning for the end? i remember watching wife swap and the family had a calender that counted down until dec 21 and caused panic in the kids and they were also preppers, why do they all prep if none of it true ?

The doomsday preppers are gullible people who have fallen for the 2012 nonsense. If you see people doing foolish things, that doesn't mean they know anything you don't. It just means they believe whatever BS they hear.

I think deep down these people are very scared. They must have some sort of fear of death. I wouldn't be surprised if most "doomsday preppers" have a kind of psychological disorder causing them to be fearful and paranoid to extreme extents.

Well, the doomsday preppers show isn't totally based on people who think the world will end this year…..Nat Geo just plays their prepping to their advantage to make more money off of the 2012 bullshit. Anyways, I do believe that being prepared for a natural disaster is perfectly fine…but spending your time preparing for the end of times is stupid. If the world ENDS, what good will your hidden bunkers and 30 year supply of food do for you….NOTHING…that is exactly right…Stop watching Nat Geo, the History channel, and H2 until after the year is over. That will help you a lot…I promise.

So are the Maya, as you can see for yourself here. This long count calendar has been a hot topic on this 2012 stuff, but as its already been explained, it simply completes a cycle and begins a new one. And further more, the 21st will just be another day for the Maya, as seen here.

There is no evidence to suggest earth will just up and go all in a day, all the claims made go against the laws of science. All the links to the left explain how each claim is physically and scientifically impossible. Some of those claims do happen, such as Magnetic pole shift, but claims like this are blown way out of proportion (eg, magnetic shifts complete in a few hours), but the explanation shows how the claim really acts, as in, magnetic shifts do happen, but take 1000s of years to complete.

Hopefully your mind will be at ease soon.

Some people Ive heard around campus are saying that Nostradamus said it would end this year and that his predictions have all been correct, but from what i remember i thought the guy said he would never predict the end of the world.

Nostradamus didn't make a single prediction for this year. His quatrains were so vague, they are open for any event to fit into them. Also, by what I've read, his quatrains also extend past this year (not sure how far). Its all explained on here, and you can use the search bar up top for more discussions on this topic.

Nostradamus never mentioned 2012, He did, however, have some so-called prediction for the year 3797. He wrote riddles in old French and Latin. It can't be shown that he ever made a correct prediction. Whenever something big happens, all the Nosty believers start picking through his writings and making creative translations to piece together something that can be made to vaguely resemble the event.

Nostradamus quatrains were vague enough that when you read them they could mean anything and just about tie into any big event. The year 2012 was never mentioned in his quatrains. He also made predications up to the year 3797 or something.

Haydenross, one important thing to know about anything you hear from Nostradamus, NONE, let me repeat, NONE of his predictions were every linked to a real event until after the event already happened. That in no way means that the event people link to the prediction is the one Nostradamus predicted mind you. What it means is that people have to search for events in history to try and find one that SORT OF FITS. I stress sort of because none of his predictions really fit perfectly. They have to fudge things to make them fit their already predetermined idea. I could go through Nostradamus' predictions and then look through history and find many events that I could say were predicted by Nostradamus. So please understand that these people are just coming up with ideas out of nowhere.

I know it says to stay on topic, but i dont think i should flood the forums by making a new topic. I believe everything you guys say its based on reason,science etc. its put me at ease finally and i thank each and every one of you :)
