Hey, I have pretty much put my mind at ease with most of the "infamous" 2012 predictions… since most have been debunked by credible sources such as this website and organizations such as NASA.

I wouldn't say I have much fear… and I know people who are older probably could recall other doomsday predictions, but I am only 15. I would assume this is the most hyped doomsday prediction maybe just behind Y2K because of the internet/media.

Anyway, what gives me any of the fear I have is the "unknown" the other stuff that hasn't been "debunked" on websites like this. What really has me curious and a bit confused… is why 2012? Obviously, the world did not end on December 3rd 2012 when the Giza Pyramids apparently aligned with the planets Mercury, Venus, and Saturn… but if they did aligne… why were they designed to do so? It amazes me enough that the pyramids were even possibily built back in that age of time when even today we would struggle to do so. Why did the Maya choose December 21st 2012 to end the calandar? What exactly is the "New Age" that is often referred to? What will actually happen on December 21st (other than the winter solstice) that had some of the ancient people such as the Maya facinated by the date?

Even religious freaks are now connecting "signs" pointing that the end is near… concluding that December 21st 2012 may be the day combined with other ancient obsession with the date. I know there are SEVERAL predictions a year… however pointing to this date does have argument with it just because of linking things with others.

I have even heard that with the 3 pyamids… December 21st - December 3rd = 18. 18 divided by 3 = 6. 6+6+6 = 18.

Just can't wait for this date to finally pass… I really would like to just live life without predictions like these. Thanks.

Uh, I'm not aware of any evidence suggesting that they were. Take any three points. Hell, make them equidistant if you want to. Try hard enough, and be patient, and you'll eventually be able to shoehorn some trio of celestial objects into some kind of "alignment."

Possibly? The age of the pyramids is pretty conclusive. I don't think we would "struggle" to build one today, if sufficient conditions existed to motivate construction. It might take some re-learning if we were to mimic the construction methods of the ancient Egyptians, but that would be of more novelty value than practical. Humans today build things that are, in my opinion, far more wondrous than stone pyramids.

There's no indication that the Maya chose a date. It's just a consequence of their counting system. Also, the calendar doesn't end. It just rolls over in the same way our calendar rolls over at the end of every December.

A few earthquakes, a few storms, some murders and military skirmishes, maybe some terrorism, possibly a notable event or two — you know, pretty much what happens every other day. In terms of some significance on 12/21, you can read that as: nothing.

There is no reason to even speculate that "the Maya [were] fascinated by the date." On the contrary, they hardly mentioned it.

There is no "ancient obsession with the date," and religious freaks have been finding "signs" for thousands of years. That's nothing new, and it ain't gonna stop (or magically become meaningful) anytime soon.

Who cares? Numerology is bullshit. You could have just as easily added the two dates and taken the square root. In fact, why didn't you? You don't know, and I guarantee that the person who told you that doesn't know either. It's made up silliness.

Y2K was less hyped because Yotube channels did not exist and the internet was not that much introduced.
The Y2K bug was very real. Every company did look through their codes and actually use the Y2K logo to make people buy their new products. But there was no Y2K that would collapse the world. There are more problems with the change from winter time to summertime and back than there was ever a problem with the Y2K computer bug.

2012 is in my opinion more hype up.
