Whichever planets line up, whether its 2, 3, or 8 of them, the effect on Earth is negligible.
Historically, planetary alignments were considered important, but this was only because people at the time had an earth-centered view of the sky, so to them, seeing two or more wandering dots of light "come together" in the sky must have seemed very significant, almost as if the objects were colliding.
Now that we understand the motions of the planets in 3 dimensions we can see that they remain huge distances from each other even when they appear to be moving close together from our viewpoint.
Planetary alignments are an unimportant visual effect.
