I have known about this date for quite a while but it didn't start scaring me until I mistakenly watched an episode of Decoded on History channel. My husband and I always loved the show and then I watched the doomsday episode one evening over a year ago while he was at work. I had already heard about the Mayan calendar before this but it was the part where they spoke to someone who knows about the internet patterns and how they show a disturbance around the 21st. I'm the kind of person that hates being alone on a normal day and with the hours my husband works, I have to spend next Friday alone from noon until after midnight. He is a coal miner which is scaring me even more that he'll be underground. He thinks I'm absolutely insane for letting this take over my life since I'm normally the person giving logical advice to others. I can't help but be petrified that something will happen very quickly and give us no warning. I know of all of the theories, nibiru, polar shift, asteroids, and so on. I don't necessarily believe in nibiru, but asteroids, polar shift, or unforseen weather events are weighing heavily on me. I know I'm going to just go into complete panic mode before next Friday, and I can feel myself slipping into it already. I wish I could just sleep the next week and a half away.
they spoke to someone who knows about the internet patterns and how they show a disturbance around the 21st.
This sounds very Star Wars-esque, "a disturbance in the force" lol, but I think this might be what you mean?

It's nonsense, and so is the history channel. Hardly a shred of actual information on that channel anymore.
I can't help but be petrified that something will happen very quickly and give us no warning.
I can't think of any reason or scenario for which this would be possible.
A lie can travel half way around the world before the truth can get its boots on.
I agree that the things that have been placed into my mind are absurd and science fiction in nature. When I decide to think rationally I can see that. I just can't help but think and know that when it does come to the different scenarios I'm ignorant and lacking greatly in scientific knowledge. I honestly don't make much sense to myself, I know these predictions are stupid, but I'm still panicking.
ahh thanks vwgreen, the web-bot thing never comes to my mind, hence why I never heard of this "internet pattern" :)
Sorry, it was a long time since I saw that show so that's all I could come up with to explain it.
You're welcome, goes to show that I'm still not fully clued up on the lot, but I'm just focusing on earth and a bit of astronomy :)
Hi there
until I mistakenly watched an episode of Decoded on History channel.
First mistake, watching history channel. They've lowered themselves down for running with all this hype, all for ratings and moolaahhhhh $$$$$$.
but it was the part where they spoke to someone who knows about the internet patterns and how they show a disturbance around the 21st.
Come again?? Where did this theory come from?? First time I've heard of internet patterns linked to the 21st, thought it was a cosmic or geological disaster thats meant to hit on the 21st, now some internet pattern? This should be an indication that nothing will happen, as the scenarios keep changing.
I have to spend next Friday alone from noon until after midnight.
I'll be spending next friday in the office, probably bored off my ass, finishing off projects, but at least the company is putting on a lunch and drinks. The only thing I'm worried about is having to nurse a hang over.
He thinks I'm absolutely insane for letting this take over my life since I'm normally the person giving logical advice to others.
Not insane, but just need to apply more realistic thinking, and you're set :)
I can't help but be petrified that something will happen very quickly and give us no warning.
This is earth, no world ending disaster happens in this short time, scientifically. Some people think this is some cartoon sci-fi planet, its not.
I know of all of the theories, nibiru, polar shift, asteroids, and so on.
Very good :) And this should help crush that thought of something happening very quickly.
I don't necessarily believe in nibiru, but asteroids, polar shift, or unforseen weather events are weighing heavily on me.
Very good, cause you never should have to believe in nibiru at all. Pole shifts, don't just suddenly happen, magnetic doesn't affect us, and rotational has never happened, and never will (unless an external force were to act on the earth, which doesn't exist). Weather?? Welcome to earth my dear friend.
I know I'm going to just go into complete panic mode before next Friday, and I can feel myself slipping into it already.
Don't worry, you won't be the only one, but thats what we are here for, to help everyone get through this.
I wish I could just sleep the next week and a half away.
And you will, cause a lot of us feel confident the rest of this month will just be a normal month.
You may have already come across this, but I recommend reading through this fact sheet from NASA, put together by one of NASAs scientists David Morrison.
Hopefully you will feel better soon, and never be afraid to ask questions :)
Believe me I have learned to stay away from that channel after that night. I can't mentally handle watching that stuff anymore, even when it has nothing to do with the end of the world. I can't say that I can get my irrational thoughts to leave within the next week, but I am grateful that I came across this discussion. I can't talk to my husband because he can not understand my way of thinking so I think this website will be my best friend until I wake on the 22nd.
Hi Akirra,
I'm not real fond of giving advice to people, since I hate getting it myself when what I really need is support. So this is sort of advice to both of us: don't be alone next Friday. Can you set up a buddy system— it sounds like you are usually someone people turn to; can you let yourself be the one who needs to lean on a few people? Even for just a phone call, a cup of coffee, a movie, heating up some leftovers. That's what I'm going to need to do (I live alone). And keep on coming here.
You'll be OK. You really will.
Thanks Rattly. I read your post as well and can relate to how you're feeling. I too feel like I'm too old to be this worried, but our minds sometimes take us prisoner. I do plan to be with my family, its just really getting to me that the most important person in my life won't be with me. My rational mind is telling me that I will wake up on the 22nd and everything will be perfectly fine but the anxiety filled irrational part won't let me think that way for very long. I plan to frequent these discussions a lot over the next few days and hopefully I can cope just fine. I definitely need people to relate to that won't draw me further into panic and so far I've found that here. Thanks again for your input!
