Well, I've read practically everything on this website. I've perused the forums and watched and read many different NASA and SETI statements about our upcoming "doomsday" but I just can't quite shake the anxiety. I'm close. Hearing my Teacher (see my posts about the mayan "extra credit" assignment) Make jokes every other sentence about the doomsday and stuff doesn't help. I kinda just want a way to help me relax. I'm already pent up about other affairs in my life, and I think the anxiety is just feeding off of that. I'm seeing all this evidence for and against, and it's like my brain is divided between "nothing's gonna happen, it's gonna be a good ole boring day!" and the other half is saying "are you sure?" Anyways, any help is appreciated, and I thank the people on this website for dealing with my anxious rants and questions all the time :)
Keep your mind busy all the time with things that are not related to 2012. In nine days, everything will be back to normal. Until there, try to control your anxiety. Forget 2012 as much as you can.
What exactly scares you the most right now?
I often catch myself thinking about waking up dead. I mean like going to sleep (I plan to say up until sunrise in Greenwich which is about 4 AM here in Florida, since that's when most people say it's gonna go down.) But I'd mostly put my uneasy feelings on the event of the black hole, or the galactic plane, moreso the former. I know that I will live through this (Cue "Today Was A Good Day")
but that stupid nagging voice in the back of my head will say "Did you forget about that black hole?" or something of the sort.

Don't waste a night of sleep because of a hoax. Go sleep and when you wake up and realize you are still here and nothing happened, you will feel great. Trust me, you should better sleep than spending your night anxious.

A nice thing you can do in this case is to learn about black holes, so you will see how cool they are. I mean, they are cool, like everything in astronomy. The coolest thing is that all of them are very far away, so they won't cause you any harm.
Learn actual facts about black holes. See how they really work, and then you will realize that they are not a threat to our planet, since they are stupidly far away.
well, I just find space freaky in general. Everytime I've heard about it, outside of the Mass Effect universe, It's just been things about something that is a danger to us. Besides this website, practically every article.
And I usually am a late night person like that. Usually the night before one of these events, I find it harder to sleep, or feel serene and ready for a worst case scenario.
Also, I apologize for my long posts, I am just a wordy person :/
Your fine with your posts. If coming here helps you and posting helps well then, we are here to respond. It seems that there is quite a few people, who are anxious and just need constant reassurance. That is fine, that's why we are here.
Space is not a danger for us. It is something that we are finding out about every day. It just contains so much information that even I cannot keep up with any more…lol…Have a glance at the NASA website. It contains great information and is up to date on all the new discoveries.
