I was doing fine with my anxiety, but then today there was an EQ off the coast of California, a shooting in an ELEMENTARY SCHOOL in Connecticut, and a stabbing at a primary school in China.

I hate all this crap!

Regardless of any stupidity humans choose to engage in, the likelihood is very high that it will roughly correspond with an earthquake somewhere. Killing remains a popular enough pastime that the correlation probably works the other way as well.

As a father of 4, I feel for you. Earthquakes and what happens in China aside, the other ordeal in CT resonates with me or any parent. Its only normal to subject yourself to the thought of "What if it were my kids". It does suck, and we feel for those parents. But the unfortunate part of all of this is that humans are their worst enemies. This doesn't mean anything more than that. Its not a sign, its some sadly mistaken mental case running a muck.

The earthquake is along the pacific rim of fire. It's bound to happen. Tectonic plates. By the way I live in South Californa… I didn't feel it at all. It was too far off the coast to affect anyone. Not even a tsunami warning.

As far as the horrific shooting and stabbings at both the schools, that shows the worst of human nature. Killings have been happening for as long as we have been here. To put everything into perspective hundreds of thousands were murdered in Rwanda, Burundi and the Democratic republic of Congo throughout the 1990s.

I heard all about it; it just breaks my heart. I cannot even begin to image what those poor parents are feeling right now. But all I can do is pray for those poor families right now.

Seriously, a 3.4 earthquake isn't bad. Earthquakes happen all the time(especially in California). Anybody know if we're still low on earthquakes this year?

Saying an earthquake happened somewhere in California is like saying it rained somewhere in Washington. California is along the most seismically active region on Earth; earthquakes are not uncommon. In fact, hundreds, if not thousands, happen every single day.

As for this sudden outbreak of shootings, it's an unfortunate coincidence. There is no doubt there are problems with how the United States handles mental health care and gun ownership, but that isn't gonna cause the world to end next week.

Having lived in California this isn't anything new. Plus this quake was so far off the ocean it was barely even felt. Earthquakes are common throughout the pacific ocean… especially along the rim of fire.

One I suggest researching is the Valdivia Earthquake in 1960. They say it was the most violent earthquake ever recorded. It was so violent it perhaps changed the political situation in Chile and caused resentment towards the political order. It measured a 9.5.

Extremely violent earthquakes can happen. Chile happens to be located above a subduction zone. We may be more familiar with another violent quake that happened in Chile more recently.
