My aunt follows this doomsday crap on history channel and she told me 2 volcanos just became active a few days ago and its related to 2012, Is this true?

That they are related to 2012? No. That they became active…ah, so? Their volcanoes, they really don't follow human time frames. I assume she's talking about the one in Russia and the one in New Zealand? Those are active volcanoes, so they will erupt from time to time.

I panicked when i read that but DanceswithElvis, seems to know what your going on about. Hearing 2 volcanoes are erupting are worrying. However ive been watching the news i dont think ive seen anything about this.

Someone actually posted a list of volcanic eruptions from the past couple of years to show it is not unusual. I'll see if I can find it. Here it is.

But, volcanic eruptions are not unusual. They are just part of the geologic structure of our planet. They can be quite scary and powerful, but they can also be a source of great beauty…just look at the lava flows in Hawaii. Regardless, there will most likely be several eruptions of various volcanoes per year. It's nothing to be scared of. Unless you live in the immediate area, you probably won't even notice unless you read the "science" page in the news.

Those 2 volcanoes cannot destroy the planet…..what threat are they other than to the locals that live near them….hopefully they will kill anyone.

You needn't worry, ade. At any given time, there are around 20 volcanoes erupting worldwide. On volcanodiscovery.com, they show 26 volcanoes currently erupting. Kilauea in Hawaii has been erupting almost constantly for many years. Unless you live close to an active volcano, you won't be in danger.

it has gone off 10 times since 1740, sounds like a pretty active volcano.

Sorta? It's an active volcano, so it's not unusual. You can't really predict the exact timing of an eruption, but there are generally signs that there might be one. (Earthquake swarms under the caldera, a build up of a lava dome, gasses being released…etc…)
