It doesn't really matter whether the calculation or correlation is correct or not (unless you're an interested historian and so on), for the simple reason that a man made calendar has no bearing on the ultimate fate of Earth.
Anyone claiming that it is a miscalculation, or tries to back-pedal or claim some New age stuff. Use this link as response:

Yes, it is a miscalculation. They held the calender upside down and the true date is 5105.
Look, there is no end of the earth date. There never has been, so any calculation at all is a miscalculation.
It could because 2012 is indeed a miscalculation.
2012 aint no miscalculation. This really is a significant date to the Mayans. However, they expect not the end of the world, but sort of a spiritual rebirth kind of thing. I do not believe in this "rebirth" because I do not follow Mayan religion. The main point is that the Mayan calendar will only pass over to a new cycle on the 21st.

Oh, I have a better understanding of this issue now. I've heard there were actually 20 bakuns, is that true(I know the Mayan calender goes beyond 2012—I'm just curious)?
The Mayan calendar has a formula for counting the days of the next 63,000,000 years or so…

Yeah, is someone trying to suggest the actual date is December 12th, 2021 and that the site would end up having to move on to 2021hoax.org?
I have heard about this miscalculation about two years ago. A german scientist said we miscalculated the Mayan calendar. They made a mistake by translating the Mayan calendar into our calendar and the end date wasn't 2012 but indeed 2220. Why should this bother us at all (if it is at all true). We will be long gone by that time.
