While people have been mongering fear for years, and have sent people thorugh severe anxiety and panic attacks to the near brink of suicide. Some good did come from these theories I think.
The people who didn't hide thier head in the dirt afraid, or pleaded ignorance to it all benefited. Many people I know said the 2012 Phenomenon turned them to researching Mayan history, and Astronomy. I think beyond all the fearmongers, and doomsayers, it budded many young and old amature scientists alike, and possibly spurred many of them onto a fine career of discovery. I'm sure plenty of people who frequent these forums and site in general had their inner astronaut interested in what lies beyond the cosmos. As an amatuer geologist, I know I was much more interested in the stars for the time being than the dirt beneath out feet.
And hopefully now, with this new apocalypse gone, those who writhed in fear, tormented by Lieder, Patrick and the like, will see the next doomsday with reason. Delving deeper into science and biblical text to make reason and debunk any harbingers of doom. For it is said, that god, and only god will know the eve of man's destruction (I am Agnostic, I have no true religion, but I believe this is true)
I would also like to thank the men and women who kept this website up and running, and helped those doubtful through the time of armageddon. (It was alot easier to send the link to this site to a friend instead of typing out four paragraphs why earthquakes are natural, and there's no planet on a collision course with earth)
I wish everyone still here, a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a Bodacious New Year.
Always Looking Forward:
-Sparky
