The doomers are dividing up into 3 groups.
The "It will happen by the end of the month" group, the "2013" group and "2015" group. They'll never let it go. It is like Harold Camping. He said 1994. When that didn't come off, he was right… he just got the date wrong. (Which he proceeded to do again, and again) finally he gave up, but not before bilking enough money from followers, to live comfortably.
If Doomers gave up, they'd have to get real jobs and make real money. Doomsday is a lucrative easy money career if you have the right sales pitch. a guy spent $1million to build an arc. Sound ridiculous? Not when he sold spaces on the arc for a (non-refundable) $400,000 to $1,000,000 a pop. He made triple his investment.
Geryl made a lot of money on his books and special appearances, plus someone who made a fake account to speak to him said he was asking for a low risk investment of $20,000 to join some survival camp.
For what? All for preying on the fears of others.
So doomers will never let it drop as long as there is money to be had… which is why it rocks to have sites like this.
