About the Forums
The discussion forums are provided for the discussion of the 2012 doomsday hoax. The forums can be used to ask questions about the 2012 doomsday hoax that are not addressed elsewhere on the site, or to tell their story about the 2012 doomsday hoax, or to discuss news events surrounding the 2012 doomsday hoax. Like most discussion forums, there is a set of rules that posters are expected to follow.
No Anonymous Posting
Up until January 1st 2012, we allowed people to post to the forums as a 'guest'. However, due to a sustained and determined attack on the forums by a particular person, this ability was turned off. The original announcement can be found here. While we regret that this action became necessary, it was not unexpected. We anticipated that as we got closer to December 21st, 2012 that this action might become necessary. This is not even the first time that this action was contemplated.
Joining Wikidot
PLEASE NOTE: Forum Posting has been temporarily restricted to registered 2012hoax.org users only
You can post to the forums if you are a registered WikiDot user. You can sign up for a free account by visiting the main wikidot page and clicking on 'Create account' in the top right corner. If you have a Facebook account you can use it to create a wikidot account. Wikidot offers 4 types of accounts, three of which are paid accounts. A 'Free' account is all that is necessary in order to post to the forums. It is not necessary to apply for membership to 2012hoax.org in order to post to the forums.
Using the Post Editor
The wikidot post editor is the same editor as the wikidot page editor. It uses the WikiDot syntax which allows you to easily reference pages on the site and produce several text effects. However, it is not a 'What You See Is What You Get' (wysiwyg) editor. If you are having difficulty with the editor, just ask, we would be happy to help you edit your post and produce the effect you are looking for.
Follow the Rules
As with most sites on the internet, we have rules here. By posting to the forums you are implicitly agreeing that you will comply with these rules and with the instructions of the moderators and administrators of the site. This site is dedicated to a specific purpose, and we ask that you respect that fact. There is a separate page containing the Forum Posting Rules.
To Join or Not to Join
If you have decided that you would like to help the site by creating additional content (i.e., creating or editing pages) then please visit the Join This Site page, and request a membership. It is also free, and we do not ask for any personal information, just your wikidot account name. Once you have joined, please leave a private wikidot message for 2012hoax that you have done so, and you will be added to the site.
