The Internet Archive Wayback Machine as applied to ATS is always useful. Have a look at this page of topics from a couple of years ago and see how nothing ever comes from a whole raft of hysteria-filled pronouncements.

Seriously, there are literally hundreds upon hundreds of posts like that on ATS. Half of them feature someone who claims to be a whistleblower or insider with some super secret batch of information, or someone who knows someone who knows someone's third cousin removed, who just so happens to work for [insert government agency here]. The other half is comprised of self-anointed prophets, alien messengers and prophets who claim to channel aliens. No, most of them don't make money from their insane rants, but people do things for motivations other than financial profit. Just look at some of the idiots who have shown up on this very board and started long, pointless discussions about the most absurd claims. Some people crave attention, even if it means cooking up fantastic b.s. that frightens others.

What's even more shameful is how all the other believers descend upon such claims to reinforce them and add fuel to the metaphorical fire. Just look at their "evidence" — for the most part, people are just linking to other ATS threads and other hysterial woo sites.

If you want science, go to a science site. If you want news, go to the AP or CNN or your local network affiliate. There is absolutely no reason to immerse yourself in woo when you can't differentiate it from reality.

It means you need to stop reading websites that have a propensity for bullshit. At the top of that list is ATS and Godlike Productions. Of course, you already know this, but you went back there anyway.

There are a lot of people on the internet who've been spouting this 2012 stuff for a decade and it's hard for them to rationalize their obsession when all evidence is pointing nothing big happening that year.

I've been conscious of 2012 theories since 2005. It's amazing to look back at all the dates and events that were supposed to precede 2012 with no outcome. Aliens were "definitely" supposed make themselves known years ago. The US/NWO was "definitely" going to stage a false flag event that would kill thousands. Nibiru would "definitely" be visible by 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, etc…

But these things are not happening. So, 2012 proponents are still hanging on to anything they can get… Mega-Earthquakes! Comet Elenin! All of the North Hemisphere Radiated!!!!

And yes, it is scary to read about fictionalized scary scenarios. I fall prey to them myself.

Despite "People waking up", "Nibiru/Planet X", "Animal Deaths" and "Commodities Rigging"(what the heck is this?), the list is n awful cherry-picking… I wanna add the "tens of earthquakes everyday", "people moving out their homes to another home" and "people dying from rabies"(hey, no one).

Recently I've been able to basically diminish my fear of 2012 altogether, as well as other crack-pot conspiracy theories. I stopped visiting Above Top Secret, and other fear-mongering websites. Today, out of boredom, I decided to go there (ATS) just to see what they were digging up now. It's not news that there are people claiming to know someone 'in the know' about the supposed '2011-2012 doom scenarios' and how their 'in the know' person, knows that something is going to happen soon (are you following me?) and things like that. I clicked on a thread today, http://abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread682183/pg1 I've come to you all about a zillion threads on ATS it seems like, and this one, yet again, is one that scares me. If things like this aren't true, why are there so many people claiming such things? They're not making money by bragging about it. Seriously, am I the only one scared?

I can't take this kind of stuff anymore.. Not to mention all the claims that the USA will be a 'different USA than what we're used to' and things of the like.. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN.
